Just watched a masterclass at Anfield. Sat back in the first half, more adventurous in the second. Bullish on the touchline. Such a contrast to Wilder who trots out the same excuses every week. We missed out big time. He's the only manager who could have saved us. Far too much sentimentality at our club.

Given money in January he could have kept us up... Don't think funds would have been made available though. I can see him keeping West brom up tho

Very fine margins tbh. McBurnie hits the bar and it goes for a goal kick, their header hits the post and comes out only for the spin to take it back in. Johnson makes a wonder save in the 90th minute to preserve a point whereas Ramsdale lets it in. One or two individual errors compared to moments of quality are costing us.

There is in addition to "one or two individual errors" some bad luck, poor decisions, not getting the rub of the green, etc.
But over and above all that there is the absolute lack of quality.

Well there is also that...

How was West broms goal allowed? He literally had both hands around the defenders neck.
I would be amazed if he keeps them up. No doubt he will saddle them with a huge wage bill whilst making a tidy sum himself.

Hardly a masterclass, just old style tactics from an old style manager. It looked like they were playing 6 at the back first half, effective today though

Did he achieve anything? Bilic had just got them a 1-1 draw at Man City

Maybe we should have gone for “ Son of Sam “before dum pigs 🐷 got him
I mean he’s doing an excellent job of putting 10 men behind the ball , scoring 1 goal and getting draws
But big sam and his grubby back handers would have been much better I mean he plays 10 men behind the ball and unless you score early against them your almost guaranteed a point of hit and hope prehistoric football 🤮🤮
And I’ll be surprised if he keeps WBA up but that’s just my view

Hello, Stegosaurus here,

I still dont get why people pooh pooh Big Sam. He has a track record of grinding out results with shit teams.

Maybe Allardyce would’ve kept us up. I doubt it, because we’re pretty deep in the mire as it is. Anyway, no point crying over spilt milk.

I think the Prince has his sights set a bit higher than the short-term gain of staying up under the likes of Allardyce. We need a long-term plan to get back up to the Premier League and stay there. Buying younger players, developing them, and selling them on. Making use of an international network of clubs to find and develop players. I think to that we need to add a commitment to a progressive and attacking style of play.

I’ll be honest: I’m starting to doubt that Wilder is the right guy to implement that vision. I’ve not given up on him but I’m close. But I am pretty sure that Allardyce ain’t the guy.

I thought they got lucky against Liverpool, it was so boring to watch.

On another day Liverpool smash them with those ancient tactics.

We’re sat on the foot of the table with the third worse start at any level in history, and we still can’t see it. I hope we will look on the past few years with such virtuosity and affection whilst we are back in league one but CWAK have long gone. It’s no wonder we are perennial strugglers, we are easily pleased!!

Some 'fans' would rather we went down with Wilder than stay up with Allardyce
Allardyce will not stay at WBA for more than 18 months so WBA's decision to hire him smacks of short termism and it is not guaranteed that WBA will avoid the drop this season. The fans will be wanting a different manager who will get the team to go back to the style of play they prefer to watch.

Exactly how I feel what we’ve been doing by buying a lot of these younger players
If only another club did that , mmm isn’t that Brentford’s approach, hasn’t done them any harm ,
I’ve said it all along , and some may differ but most of who’ve we’ve bought are top end championship players , look at our strikers and how they got on in that league, mostly designed to get us back up if / when we went back down
Unfortunately for us this was the year to stay up because next season with the money earned we could have then realistically pushed on and signed the players that could have cemented us in this league
We’ve not broke the bank , are financially secure and are investing in good up and coming players for the future wether there with us or elsewhere that’s the question

Cant wait until we start getting results, then you will bugger off for good.

Only post after defeats.

I think you are confused mate. The Prince is not McCabe.

Looked extremely similar to how Chris sets up against every team we play- Sam got lucky with the draw. Its not really competing, more surviving and praying.

The tactic is failing us badly, it really is time to 'give it a go' yep we'll get smashed in a few but it's got to be more entertaining and possibly lead to a better aggregate.

Big Sams a dinosaur we are better off with CWAK- few additions and I can see these players doing well in the champ.. maybe getting Chris back in Prem at first attempt.
