Have we ever wanted Wednesday to win before?

I can't remember being in this situation since I started supporting United in 1980. Perhaps older fans can advise if this has ever happened before.

I hoped they'd beat Charlton in that fa cup 5th rd replay, but never has a Wednesday win been so vital to us

Don't recall ever wanting them to win, going back to 1953. Now I am breaking that taboo, I fully expect to vote Conservative in the next election.;)

I could live with a draw and let Brentford and Villa do the business against Leeds.

The only other scenario would be that the Pigs win on Saturday and then lose all their remaining fixtures.

I’ve supported United for over 40 years.
I’ve known the odd time when i’ve seen an advantage to us if they win, so I’ve been on the fence about their result.

But I’ve never known a time when.....can’t believe I’m saying this.....that I will be running around the room cheering if they score.

My brother is a Wednesday season ticket holder, so i’ll probably be going to his house to watch it and I’ll probably be wanting Wednesday to win more than him. What a weird scene, both of us (Owl and Blade) celebrating a goal scored by a Sheffield team.

So i’ll be cheering them on Saturday tea time...now I feel dirty...and need to take a shower...disgusting.

Wendy wanted us to beat L**ds in the penultimate game of the 1991/92 season as at the time they had a chance of winning the league. We lost 3-2.

I want us to win our five remaining games. If we do that I expect us to get promoted. We should never have to rely on other teams results if we want to progress. We should all know that shower of sh*te across the city have never done us any favours so why would they start now. Pigs got found out against a good team, like Villa expect Weeds to do the same.

I hope they win the Checkatrade Trophy in a couple of years:)

Don't, just don't.

Some of their inbred thighs-rubbing-together numpty fans will go on about it being a 'trophy'. They will have taken 375,000 fans to Wembley to thrash the mighty Southampton U21 and will live on it for years.

Now, winning the Conference?

I reckon I could just about accept that.

Nope. If they were in the conference I’d still want them to be relegated. I don’t want them to win another promotion ever. Even if it’s from the northern Premier league. In fact, once they’ve played Leeds, I’d be happy if they never won another match. Ever.

In some seasons since I started going in the 60s we have missed out on something, safety, promotion, play offs. Always. And I mean always because some other team got more points than us. In some of those cases, those teams who pipped us on points had actually won or drawn v Sheffield Wednesday. Let me Nail That. If Sheffield Wednesday had won against those teams, those teams would have gained fewer points, and we would have achieved our aim - safety, play offs, promotion, etc. Sorry to chuck Maths in the way of all you oooohhhh I hate the Pigs so muchers, but, yes, of course there have been occasions in the past when a Sheffield Wednesday win would have helped us.

But most of the time it will have been too early in the season to know which team losing would benefit us; it could just as well have been Wednesday. And though I want them to beat Leeds, a little voice inside my head keeps saying that they'll get in the play-offs and beat us at Wembley. At that point I go and read the Brexit thread for mental relaxation.

They’ll be pigs in shit on Saturday night.
Win, and they’ll believe they’re going up via the play offs.
Lose, and they’ll claim they prevented us getting an auto promotion spot.

Fook the Pigs!

But if they beat Leeds and we beat Millwall then we have the upper hand and are less likely to be in the playoffs. Fuck them anyway, we’d beat them.
