I was going to mention Norwood but by club finger pressed the wrong button on the screen.
But the facts are we’ve (Wilder) has spent less than we’ve brought in. I don’t feel we’ve pushed the boat out at all. McCabe and the Prince have again showed a total lack of ambition. Wankers the pair of them. I feel Wilder been stitched up yet again.
He will not doubt put a brave face on it, as he has too but he will inwardly know we’ve missed another opportunity.

Define ambition

If Wilder has been 'stitched up' he will walk away from the club

I suspect he has been backed to a certain level but not enough to bring in the top players some fans want

How do you know the board didn't show a lack of ambition in line with what we can afford ? Maybe they didn't want to go down the piggy route of shit or bust

Building a better quality squad and making a profit to boot ,wilder should have clubs queuing down the street for his services.

I hate to say it but we have all been waiting for the big Summer Centre forward signing and it’s not happened. It is a little disappointing.

Are we really any stronger up front than last season.

I am not sure.

As usual though, those who said it won't happen that are the most disappointed. It's as if they didn't really believe what they were saying.

I am certain he will he’s just waiting for the right job opportunity.
I’m not after them spending multi millions just a balance of player sales and players bought.
Admittedly salaries will have gone up but not relatively to what other clubs are spending on salaries.

davidblade is correct in what he says in a roundabout way. The club gave CW a positive budget (£2m was it?) before all the dealings and we've ended up multiquids in. Cut it whichever way you want, it's another classic Mr McCawber whitewash.

all those players that have been brought in are an improvement on the ones they've replaced. Decent business to do all that for profit.
Henderson is better than Blackman
Norwood is better than Evans
McGoldrick is better than Donaldson
Washington is better than Lavery
Woodburn could be better than Brooks

Tell me how we are worse off than we were at the end of last season?!

Henderson better than Blackman - Remains to be seen
Norwood is better than Evans - True,
McGoldrick better than Donaldson - Remains to be seen
Washington better than Lavery - Great, he's better than someone who'll never play for us again
Woodburn isn't better than Brooks - Brooks would be tearing this division a new arsehole, Woodburn can barely get a game

Lot of presumption in that listing, Norwood is better than Evans and the rest remains to be seen.
Also for Brooks you mean Brooks' input last season and not what he would've been this season or that is an instant 'no'.

i think McGoldrick is better than Donaldson already in my opinion. But again thats just my opinion

I hope you're right, but time will tell.
I don't think Donaldson did a lot wrong and he did get off to a flyer at Sunderland, a result that kickstarted our great form in the first half of last season, so how McGoldrick can already be better I don't really understand

With what Tufty had to play with, he was never going to get the marquee signing which people wanted.

It's unrealistic.

You're looking at wages of £30 000+ a week.

It was always going to be a development player - a player who's maybe lost his way, or one that hasn't had much game time.

He should have gone for Joao before he became established.

Prices are ridiculous.

Let's put it this way. if the Goal Machine is worth six million, what does that tell us about this market?

The general gist of the replies to the op only highlights to me why successive chairman and boards at SUFC have got away with it for at least 50 years now. That window was shocking, a typical lack of ambition SUFC window, at times, especially in the last few days, downright embarrassing window. This club has punched below its weight for many years now, and that last window says everything you need to know about the ethos at Bramall Lane. McCabe and all the bean counters will be happy, as will the happy clappers in the stands.

Wouldn't go as far as embarrassing, maybe monetarily but I think we've got some decent people in.

I get your point, it is a bit "thanks guvnor" when we've been given a baked bean on a Ritz cracker for supper occasionally, but I'd rather be like that (realistic about our budget) than be like those at S6 who want nothing less than Premier League winners and Champions League experience.

I've honestly seen someone say seriously that they should be in for Loftus-Cheek on loan.

The Brooks money was never going to be spent in full. Or anywhere near it this window. Only an idiot would think it would. The owners are in a legal battle in which one - probably both in £ terms - will lose heavily. We've seen the arguments in draft and the little legal tricks, so no one is going to put cash in and possibly lose more when the money owed by football clubs is guaranteed.

It's the easiest thing to tell people to spend millions though, but odd in that the same people doing that are usually the ones proclaiming the owners are a couple of con men without a pot to piss in. Until it suits otherwise.

For probably half a day I let myself become one of the deluded about spending the £5m on a striker. It didn't take me long to come back down to earth and I never ever thought we'd push the boat out like some believed. That's realism, not this slagging them off because fans unrealistic expectations aren't met yet again.

I don't like it, but wetting myself repeatedly on a forum about it somehow doesn't appeal.

The final bigger blade shit then hits the fan, in an I know best routine. You clearly don't, otherwise you'd know what to expect from the latest fucking owners and the financial position and wouldnt have to resort to insulting fans who don't agree with you.

I can't do anything. You can't do anything. It really is that simple.

Great manager, great ground, great support, taking my boy tomorrow with great expectations.
Don't get this obsession with what we have or haven’t spent,
Proud to be a blade.
To be fair, it's pretty much all there is to moan about ;)

Of course it wasn't going to be spent in full, this is SUFC we are on about, the club that love to punch well below their weight ... and the happy clappers lap it up.

I honestly believe some of our fan base would be better suited following Rotherham, a nice lovely little club that show not much ambition but will have the odd good season and odd good result to keep the punters happy.

It's pathetic argument. You aren't a realist, you're a dreamer. You expect the very very best without any thought for the reality and unburden that idiocy onto fans who apparently are "happy for mediocrity".

If you knew it wasn't to be spent in full, why get worked up when it isn't?

We see the Bigger Blades on here every day. Always demanding what's currently unattainable, screaming for others to spend millions while being just as impotent as the fans they blame for their own deluded fantasies not coming true.

Spending money we don't have is a nonsense, demanding we spend money we don't have is stupid, both spouted by people with no answers, just the same old questions and daft opinions.
