Great to see a hat trick in the first home match by Billy Sharp.

Just wondering how many I've seen by the Blades.

Let's see how many we can remember since my first days eh?

Anyone start.....

Not sure it could of been.

Will have to check the highlights.

Marcus Bent's got a hat-trick too don't forget.

He played better today, but we played how he needs us to play and created some chances!

Still should have had 5 :p

Who has scored the most hat-tricks for the blades?

Is it edwards?

Anyone know what price it was for billy to get a hattrick?

I never thought I'd say "Billy Sharp and "Hat-trick" in the same sentence.

The guy doesn't half do my head in but I have no complaints about him against QPR. Thought he was brilliant.

Harry Johnson scored 20 hat-tricks for United in the 1920's, and I doubt that record will be broken.

Trying to be serious about the odds(!), I doubt there would have been odds on a specific player scoring a hat-trick, but you may have got odds on a hat-trick being scored by any player if you asked an independent bookie. I'd probably reckon the odds would be quite skinny given how rare they are - I'd only give 100/1 at a normal league match!

Very occassionally you'll see odds for, say, a Ronaldo hat-trick, if they're desperate to find odds on certain matches where the normal match odds are unbackable, because of the difference in quality of the teams concerned, like a Third Round FA Cup match between Manure and some non-descript set of non-entities from, oh I don't know ..... Hellsbore, or summat like that.

I'm too young to remember!

Sideburns looked after one of the Harry's......didn't his son/brother play a few years after?

Not sure which one she knew but she says he was an old gent!

:)

Harry's younger brother Tom turned pro in 1928, and played in our last Cup Final appearance in 1936. He was also captain during the 1938/9 promotion season.

Leon Clarke, Ched Evans and Harry Chapman have also scored hat tricks since this thread started.

Guthrie Halifax away leauge cup 5-1 win may be wrong , some Blade Boffin will know , Tudor in a 9 v 0 win against Barnsley ,

Hat tricks aren’t that common. I have no statistics, but I imagine going home with the match ball but not ending up on the winning side must be even less common. Billy and Leon have both done that in the last season and a bit.

Ah yes, I was at that one. Bury at home I believe. I can’t remember a thing about Beattie’s at home to Leicester but was at that, so too Sharp’s the following year vs QPR. Nuddy vs Rotherham in the crazy week that included the Cardiff 5-3 game, and I think JAF in one home game in 1997 under Kendall. Think that’s it for me – had though Walker or Blake might have had one but can’t think of any I witnessed.

Think Monty got 2/3rds of a hat trick, all in one game.
