Basically you had a meltdown and toys went flying.

I’ve said for most of the season that I dont think we’ve been playing to our strengths and grinding out results and there was a chance it would come back to bite us.

The thread was started off the back of one of the worst home performances I’ve seen and I include Adkins and Clough in that. It was fucking horrendous. It had been 5 months since the Burnley performance and we were showing all the signs of a team in free fall and a manager who refused to play any kind of front foot football whatsoever.

Clearly, he’s decided that Doyle and McAttee are more than worthy of a regular starting place in the team, something he was so reluctant to do before that Luton game. We also seem to be playing with a lot more freedom that we havent been since the world cup.

For whatever reason, theres been a huge shift in the mentality since that Luton game. If we’d been playing like the last two games all season then it would be fair to say that the poor run of form was just a blip and I’d have been confident he’d have turned it around. We haven’t, we’d looked slow and laboured, we’d have rare good spells in games that would see us through.

I said on here literally the other day that if we carried the mentality of the Blackburn game through the rest of the season we would be promoted. Given that there was absolutely 0 sign of that performance following the Luton game, it was absolutely fair to question the manager.

We were still in second, so no it wasn’t fair to question the manager

How this manager has kept this group together with all he has had to put up with this season

I doubt if anyone else could have done the job he has considering

An embargo
piccking the players up off the floor after a) wilder
B) a play off defeat in a shoot out to a bunch of wankers
The horrendous injury list
Half the squad being out of contract next summer
The most apathetic fan base in world football
The problems with the training pitches and facility's
A dodgy takeover
The knowledge that failure to go up will mean a budget to Compete with the Cardiff and Wigans

Well done hecky

You are not the only fan feeling the nerves.
However the results under Hecky speak for themselves.
If we go up, and considering everything that is happening behind the scenes, it will be an amazing achievement by the team and management.

We’d thrown away a 14 point lead in a matter of weeks due to a run of abject performances….at what point do we question it?

We’re clearly getting some way back to the performances closer to the start of the season. That’s all I’ve wanted us to do. Given that we were showing no signs of that after the Luton game then yes its completely justified to question whether he was getting the best out of the squad he’s got available.

If we go up and likely when now I would still get shot of hecky

He’s done a fine job but IMO he is not a premier league level manager at all it’s as clear day

Football is a ruthless game unfortunately and you do what is best for the club not what’s the best thing for a certain player or manager
Yeah but you don’t know shit. You’ve repeatedly proven that all you care about is saying something that might get a reaction… pathetic!
Anyway, you said you wouldn’t post anymore should we win… so what a great day all round to be a Blade!

A lead that Hecky and the team earned by putting in good performances and winning matches.

If you’re going to slag the bloke off for letting a lead decrease, you have to be balanced and give him the credit for building up the lead in the first place!

Of course it will and I agree with all of that.

I actually think this squad had the potential to be as good as Burnley this season but I just think we’ve been overly cautious at times this season. I’m sure the off field problems may have had something to do with that as well, but as you say you can’t argue with the results.

He’s turned it around so fair fucks to him for that but there’s clearly been a shift in mentality that hasnt been there since the early part of the season. If there had been any signs of returning to that since christmas, would I have been questioning him? Of course not.

I’ve given him plenty of credit for our early season performances. Burnley, Blackburn and Reading absolutely stand out as some of the best we’ve seen in recent years.

For some reason though we became cautious, admittedly while still grinding results out. The sign of a promotion team you may say but generally those performances are usually rare. It’s fine when you’re getting results but once you start dropping points, the cautiousness becomes a problem and is laid bare.

I think we were unnecessarily dragged back into a fight for promotion but whatever. The last couple of games, we’ve been back to out best. More sustained football on the front foot and getting after teams. Continue in this vein and we will be okay, but then I’ve said that all along.

The board are just waiting for the green light from Poch that he wants to come then Hecky will be gone quicker than you can say The Blades Ae Going Up.

Thats what I heard anyway, from a City fan.

You are quite wrong it’s quite the opposite

I screamed all last year play mcburnie play mcburnie I said he was a top championship striker and was laughed at now look at him

I said all year Norwood isn’t the oracle and we have looked miles better with him out of the team

I’ve said sharp was passed it last season which he was and many more opinions that have become fallowfield facts

when we get promoted to the prem and beat man utd in the cup final some will still want Hecky out

and the argument we may have beaten 3 top 6 sides to win the cup but we will lose every week when we go up ,,,,
because he has no tactical nouse

poch had several goes at winning the cl and failed ,,, hecky is nailed on to win it in 3 seasons

Hecky changed out the midfield. Fans on here had been calling for that for ages. It halted the slide and turned the confidence and team around.
yes Im certain he read about that option on here
he hasn't read chapter 3 of his tactics book yet

hes had to utilise nearly all the squad over 38 games due to injuries

with the embargo and take over malarky hes actually shit miracles

You’re back in here saying fairly coherent and sensible things but you did also once in here say “if you ever wonder why United have achieved fuck all in living memory, its because of fans like you”.

😂😂😂😂

Pipe down and give us all a rest.

You 100% called it wrong.

Our form was never out of the top 6. Boro were just pretty much in invincible form for a longer period than you’d expect & we dropped points which you would expect at some point

When were we ever 14 points ahead on same games played.
It's like the mouth that Wednesday were running away with the league one title
And if we win our game in hand now we are 9 points ahead now so boro have made up only 5 points in half a season

The current form table over the last 10 games has us in 7th. Prior to our recent upturn we were in 13th. A trend was developing.

Hi Stegosaurus here

Hecky giving Wilder a lesson in how to manage a team. Always said Wilder was a fraud who fluked onto a decent tactic
