Harry Souttar is

Always thought Fletcher was a "big unit" until I saw him next to Souttar at the end last night. Most players who creep over the 6 foot 2 or 3 barrier are beanpoles (see: Peter Crouch). Souttar is 6 foot 7 and built like a brick shithouse. Absolute unit of a man. Could end up being signing of the season. Get him in the first team for league games and watch opposition defences shit themselves every time we get a corner.

Shame I don't really see a way to have him and JLT in the same side, as he would be a real asset if we had long throws coming in.
Fletcher went and grabbed two of ours by the neck until souttar grabbed him by his neck and dragged him off

Anel & Souttar

Wow that is a Title winning 100 point Centre Back pairing 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

Robbo has been decent for a while but he has never been as good as Anel or Souttar

Anyone who thinks Robbo is even remotely close to them two is living in cloud cuckoo land and judges footballers on doing two footed challenges
Robinson is a better defender than Anel. Anel is very good going forward, but bank average defensively.

For me the biggest difference between the two is the level of consistency .

On his day , Anel is capable of putting in outstanding performances both defensively and offensively . With regard to the former , I still remember him making a number of last ditch tackles which were up there with some of those from Kyle Walker in his all too brief time with us .

On other days however , he can be all over the shop and spend a lot of time giving away cheap free kicks which put us under pressure and almost inevitably lead to an eventual booking .

Robbo on the other hand , whilst not having the same levels of natural ability or athleticism , offers a more regular and consistent level of performance which is not just about his his obvious commitment and determination but also his positional sense and reading of the game which is often underestimated .

He has to replace JLT

For me he doesn't start Saturday, he looks good, but you don't change a CB pairing that just kept a clean sheet away from home, I think you take it game by game, for me at the moment it's Robinson's and Anel's shirt to lose

Think CW will rotate more now we have a bit more squad depth defensively.

Some Champ teams will play more direct and some will sit in and others will play wide etc.

Just so chuffed we now have Souttar and Moore who will cause havoc for corners and set pieces.

I dunno, I think our defensive problems stemmed from a largely passive midfield today. Our first line of defence (midfield) were conspicuous by their absence.

Out of the new signings he's the one who most needed to start. QPR had about 7 players over 6 foot

But you have to understand that we must go through 'the process' with new signings. No matter how much of an obvious improvement they are, we must leave them out for at least 4 weeks to avoid hurting the feelings of the player they'll eventually replace. No amount of lost points as a result is too many

He’s far better than both that started today. His height means he doesn’t need those yards that Robinson and Anel have. And he’ll win EVERYTHING.

It needs to be him and one other. Work from that.

Yet here we are, manager makes a shocking 'captain' decision twice in a row. We're now stuck with Robbo even though we have an international quality centre back on the bench.

First Anel who never should have been close and then Robbo this season who is our 3rd best centre back being named as captain.
Baffling.

Our best centre half.

Simple.

Pick someone to play next to him, that’s it.

Souttar is not the answer, too 1 dimensional. Can only play well in a verison of a 3 to compensate for his mobility. Nor are Anel/JLT, they are not resilliant enough to deal with the numerous errors the defence makes.

Did we have a midfield second half because I didn't see one...

It's been clear for a while we need better quality. Anel doesn't look like he will get back to the player we had in his first season. Start Souttar and get a quality experienced CB in to start alongside him. Sorry to say but Robinson anel and trusty not reliable or good enough to be first choice at the moment.

Souttar NEEDS to start and we need a better ball playing RB than Gilchrist.. someone who is confident advancing up the pitch.

Petty both Seriki and Shackleton are injured.
