Harry Soutar

I'm really, really worried about this. He has been transformational for us, a colossus of a loan signing.

I can see us starting to wobble now, lack of depth, compared to significant strength and depth in the squads around us. That's no knocking of our lot, AT ALL. I think we've been great. But we're looking like what we are, a hastily (if not very well) put together side, across one transfer window. CWAK have done superbly, but we aren't a few tweaks to existing quality squads (Leeds, Burnley), we're a new side and the lack of depth is starting to hurt us. Seriki, JRS, Campbell, Arblaster, Souza and now Souttar. That is a LOT of quality to be missing, in a thin squad.

Souttar has been magnificent. He wins everything, he's composed, and his outstretched telescopic legs have reached so many balls/tackles already this season, that your average centre half doesn't get to. He'd be my tip for POTY, alongside Cooper and Hamer. I don't know how you begin to replace that quality.

The thread title is ‘Harry Soutar’ and so is the topic of discussion, which I have commented on. Totally baffled how you have come to the conclusion that I could be also talking about his centre half partner while commenting on the topic, Harry Souter.

He is great in the Championship and any club wanting out of this league would be daft not to sign him. The PL is a very different game of football to the Championship, the ball is not getting lumped about in air like this season, it is a very fast paced game, played on the floor at a quick pace with very intelligent players. We have seen this first hand just last season. Apart from corners every coach worth their salt would make sure no ball goes in the air near him while also very much targeting him on the ground. There is a reason he is not playing in the PL now.

Just my opinion which doesn’t make me right 👍

“Just my opinion which doesn’t make me right”

NO!!!!

Never show any doubt weakness……..

Will take some replacing.

But he now goes back to Leicester if we can and we replace him.
Any 6/4 minimum height CB’s about that are good on the ball and quick?

Wonder if any getting splinters at the big 4/5?

The only decent view I saw didn't look like ACL, looked like weird turning of ankle

Again, love how the first thing you give a shit about is how lanky a player is. At least unlike someone else you do list two other qualities, which if all boxes you want are checked would be the first on Man City's shopping list in a few days from now

Does he go back to his parent club if he has a season ending injury ? is the loan deal cancelled when season ending injury is confirmed ?
Doubt it, they’ll want us paying his wages or a percentage of them as agreed. Of course we can get another loan in because he won’t be in the matchday squad but Leicester aren’t going to cancel the deal for us if they don’t have to.

All depends on what's in the agreement, however, most clubs would prefer serious injuries to be overseen by their own medical terms.
Let's hope Soutar's isn't as bad as it looked - from his reaction I thought achilles or ankle ligaments, neither of which are generally quick to heal

How would we possibly know that??
Yes, there was a recall if he didn't play a certain number of games but how does that tie in with injuries? And sending him back?
I don’t understand what you’re saying?
I posted before his injury, that he couldn’t be recalled.

Yeah was my immediate reaction ACL although he did limp off. I put that down to the stretcher not being long enough !

Desperately sad.

UTB

Depends how you define a limp. His left foot was hanging above the ground, taking no weight at all. More an assisted hop than a limp.

I’m afraid I’d be taking no encouragement at all from the way he left the pitch. Desperately disappointing.

He's an important player, a real leader. But if he is injured Wilder will have a replacement lined up you'd have thought now. Am I right in saying we can have six loans a season as long as five are only in the match day squad? So if loans are the only option we can sign another sling with say BBD on loan and Tyler Morton on loan?

That would of course mean one would have to miss out if Souttar returns this season and his loan is continued. Gutted fir the lad, he's been immense. Will be difficult to replace. Maybe we'll go permanent to replace.

Have to wait and see what the assessment is.

But at best with the look of that injury your thinking 4-6 weeks.
Could of course be months.

Either way highlights the need for another CB. Not confident to have RND and Baptiste as backup. Given Gilchrist is holding RB at min too.

No one is springing to mind.

None weight bearing not good

Having badly sprained my ankles and broken one (plates, screws etc) then I am hoping it is a bad sprain, they are incredibly painful, mine were more painful than the break.
There would be no chance of putting any weight on a bad sprain for a while.
If it was badly broken they would have ascertained that on the pitch and stretchered him off??
It is difficult to tell the difference sometimes though, I understand that.
No expert and I am just trying to be hopeful or maybe wishful thinking of something like a 2-3 month recovery period and he could be available for the last 8 games or so.
I fear it will be worse though :( some rumours of it being ACL. I didn't get the clearest of views but he did fall really awkwardly.

He knew as soon as he went it was bad, we sit near to where it happened. He was devastated, don't know where stretcher was as that would have been better than trying to help him off. Couldn't put his foot to floor but when he went down he was holding his knee

In the short term I suppose we'll have to go back to last years centrehalf pairing of Ahmedhodzic and Robinson.
You know.....the pairing that let in 100 goals last season.....let's hope Cooper helps them build up some confidence.
One positive is at least we don't have to rely on Trusty.

If Souttar is bad I wouldn't mind Willy Boly from Forest who barely gets a look in there. Forest are doing very well of course so may be willing to let him go. Could be a great signing that. Maybe it's unlikely but not impossible.

Boly a good shout, fits the experience criteria CW wants more than Omobamidele and is a unit like Souttar.

Stating the obvious maybe, but Souttar size and presence been so important. In previous Championship seasons we've struggled against the opposition 'big lump' forwards, but this season I've barely noticed them as Souttar so dominant. Think Boly could do that job well.

Like the Omobamidele shout. Wonder if we could get Jake O'Brien from Everton for 6 months? Was on loan at Lyon last year and is an absolute unit. Similar play style to Souttar.

Difficulty we have is that we will need someone match-fit who’s been playing so they can start contributing straight away- we haven’t got the luxury of getting someone up to speed for a few weeks.

If Souttar is injured I wouldn't be against Liam Kitching from Coventry. He's a unit and looked class at Barnsley, cost Cov £3m but hasn't played much under Lampard. Only 25, as a left field option I could see is looking at him. He is left footed which would allow Anel to play rcb too.

I would love us to go out and sign Bobby Thomas from Cov, I think he’d be just what we need, can you imagine the collective head-explosions in the West Midlands.

I thought there guy stood on him?
General consensus seems to be he fell awkwardly?
Can anyone confirm
