Without knowing a thing about him im surprisingly pleased with this, Seems a trust CWs judgement more than I thought.

Im already picturing the Twitterblades meltdown come May 2017 when hes played 30+ games netted 10+ and helped win us promotion and we dont show the ambition to sign a player who wont be available

Dus ne1 knw wot numba Chapman wil b werin? R kid wnts iz name on iz nu Blades kit.

One thing with Chapman that could really work in our favour is his age and the timing of his physical development. He's 19 in October, he's at a typical age where he's likely to develop more strength and power. If he does that he could quickly become far too good for L1, but he'll be our player for the full season. You'd certainly expect him to only be better than he was last season and get better the longer this season goes on.

That's George Long. I'd know him anywhere! So, sneaky eh? They're going to play George Long on the left wing and tell us they've bought us a winger, and we'll be none the wiser because we've never heard of Harry Chapman anyway. This must mean Aaron Ramsbottom in goal then?

Quite the contrary. I wrote an open letter to Brealey telling him he'd just relegated us. It was given a two page spread in the Green 'Un.

However, the Bassett obsession on here is excruciatingly embarrassing. He's had his day a very long time ago. His 'football' is outdated, discredited and redundant, except in S2 of course. That, sadly, is his legacy. A generation of fans who don't know the right way to play the beautiful game.

Pinchy. I think you are the only poster on this forum with a Dave Bassett obession. Most simply appreciate what he did for our club and recognise that he was the most successful manager in many of our lifetimes.

I also think you do him a disservice when you describe his football. He brought to the club some of the best footballers I have ever seen play for us. Deane, Hodges, Cowans (or was that Kendall, I forget?), Nilsen, Blake, Agana etc. Yes we were direct and physical but it was more than percentage game played by Blackwell. There were plenty of moments of individual brilliance along the way. Where do you stand on Wilder's football so far? I think it seems fairy similar in the way we go long initially and then try to play from the 2nd ball.

I don't subscribe to a right or wrong way of playing football. I think the most important thing is that you identify the way your team is going to play and make sure you have the players to carry it out. Something too many of our managers have failed to do and something some haven't had the chance to do.

Done has done little in his three games on the left. I'd give Chapman a start on Tuesday.

Hopefully Chapman will start today. We desperately need some pace in the team
