I’m pleased with this signing. Not Nathan Byrne or Jed Wallace pleased but pleased all the same. We were desperate for another winger and now we have one who by all accounts, can make things happen. Hopefully with him and Duffy we will be able to give Sharp and Clarke the service they require.


Wilder seems to be heading very much towards a Bassett set up (turn away now Pinchy). Skilful wingers who can get crosses in, hardworking, combative central midfielders, big man little man partnership up front etc. Let’s just hope he can enjoy the sort of success that Bassett did.

We do need a bit more bite in CM to complete the comparisons, I'd put CM and GK as the priority positions now and think CW will address these. I can't see CW suffering George for too long, no pun intended.

I always rely on Barnsley fans when forming a view on footballers. Beats having a look and making your own mind up every time.

I also consult them on horsedrawn coal wagons, outside lavatories and standpipes.

I was right!

A lot of good players seem to be coming over from there. It's become a favourite hunting ground for Championship clubs.

My Barnsley fan nephew, a season ticket holder for thirty years(poor lad) says : -
Did ok to start with,speed and trickery but lightweight. Scored a cracker v Walsall but couldn't get a regular game because of Hammill and Isgrove.

but wasnt his squad , which never helps
you get sam allardyce saving sunderland , but they did have quality players
bassett got a collection of ordinary journeymen , which he decimated and turned round at the first attempt when it was his choices

Absolutely. Hopefully he'll go straight into the squad tomorrow so that we can have a look at him. Would also like to see Done given a chance up front instead of Billy.

Shame Morsy doesn't seem to feel that BDTBL isn't a better place to be ( I'll bet there's not double figures of posters on here that get that reference )

I don't mind Long but excellent GKs were certainly a conrnerstone of Bassett's teams too so we shall see.

Well It coincided with the sale of our best player by some way following which I think Dave knew we were doomed. I'm sure if this forum had been around then you'd have been telling us that we shouldn't criticise the board for selling the family silver and that Deano was easily replaceable.
