Incoming? Harlee Dean

People might laugh but are right, at his age you look to the future he may realise that he might benefit from a season in league 1 with a team on the up rather than a team who may well struggle in the championship.

Why should people laugh, David? It's a sensible and valid proposition. League status is a transient thing. We are bigger and more attractive than a great many Championship and a few Premiership teams. No offence but Brentford don't even register

Indeed - just look at Pompey, a team that has suffered years of recent successive turmoil and finished 16th in League 2 last season. They've managed to poach a promising manager from a team that narrowly missed out on the playoffs in the league above, have attracted the likes of Gary Roberts and Kyle Bennett to drop a league and move to the south coast, and generally look like a team that has the potential to rise quite quickly back up the leagues.

Dougie is a good player, pretty much played 50 games a year for 4 years, last season chipped in with about 10 goals aswell.Im sad he is leaving as we could do with him imo but I guess something has happened behind the scenes

Are we still talking about signing Harlee Dean like we have any chance at all?

If we signed Harlee Dean then I'd expect us to finish top 2 no problem. It just isn't going to happen.

When was the last time we poached a highly rated youngster from a division above?
Harrison McGahey?

I think that is a different scenario. Harrison McGahey was 18yrs old and had only played a handful of games. Harlee Dean is 23 and has over 200 games under his belt.

For the record, McGahey will be a fantastic footballer in time.

i just know what people start saying when we mention we are a bigger club than many in the championship, the fact of the matter is we are. No signing from a team in the championship who have only recently enjoyed success would surprise me in the slightest.

I just mean it doesn't happen often.
Scougall and Murphy could come into that category but I don't particularly class the SPL has a higher standard than ours.
I really really want this signing to happen, but I think the only chance we have got is if he feels unwanted there or if he wants to play for us due to our size. Either way, I'm quite pessimistic.
And not to be argumentative but I completely disagree with you on McGahey, I think he could improve but I can't see him making it.

Harrison needs to go on a season long loan I reckon.

I'd never heard of him before tbh. Can't say reading this gives me much faith about his character, though perhaps he's grown up in the years since - http://itsbeautifuloutside.proboards.com/thread/2597

Just read some of the comments on the link you provided L'boro. Since Dean's name has been mentioned a few comments have cropped up about the fact he sometimes fails to get a grip and talks bollocks. As you say, he may have grown up, but there's clearly a lack of maturity about the boy/man.

CKR and Kazim Richards living in the same place? What are the chances?

Quite the turn up for the books.

Mind you, I have heard than Sammon and Salmon are on the lookout for houses in Whirlow.
Sharpe and Sharp want to be a bit closer towards Dronny.

Playing in front of 18,000+ every other week is a big incentive for some players.

I get that, but if we start going on about our 'size' there is a chance we will begin to sound like the Ladyboys of South Barnsley.

Remember they are a 'massive' club and imminently I'm sure they will be awarded the Premier League trophy to keep for ever because of this.

We must be humble and not let ourselves get carried away. If in doubt lift your head toward S6 and nod sagely, thanking the Lord* that you were not created in the image of the trotter.

Haha I'll never be like them. As you can see from my name- I've been brought up surrounded by the arrogants, but to ignore the fact that a club like ours is a big pull for some players is a bit daft.

I'd agree with most of your observations ISC, but being humble? Humility dispensed incorrectly can be as sickening as the delusions that 'they' specialise in. I'm all for being realistic, and we Blades are nothing but dab hands at knowing where we stand and what the future might hold. The truth is, 'they' can be cuntier than the most cuntish cunts in cuntdom, and therefore deserve nothing but scorn for not acting like normal grownups.

Clearly in the spirit of the great Bard who couldn't have expressed it better himself (and won't get chance now he's dead).

Poetry indeed with the motif of the repetitive 'cunt' making the words skip across the page and float through the air.

Your command of the English tongue does you great service brother IIYB.

Not like them 6 fingered simple twats up the road.

(Parts of) Brentford are OK...

Know where I'd rather be! :)

Which ones your place then!! Sheffield didn't look much like that to me when I was wondering about before the eventful 2-2 draw a few years ago !

That is about 15 - 20 minutes from the centre, between Sheffield and Manchester
