I'll guess at the following amounts removed thus far:

Ched - 20k
Willo - 10k
Beattie - 10k
Simmo - 10k
Ertl - 5k
Lowton 5k
Taylor 5k
Others - 2k

There's also the question as to whether Morgs has had a wage cut, which you'd imagine he has, and if so I'd say that's a good 10k off.

I think some of those above will be low, and some high, so they're definitely approximate estimates, but it still comes to 77k.

Simmo's basic was higher than Cheds. Cheds was heavily loaded with goals and appearances bonuses.

Don't forget 10k for Morgs.

Right! So there's the £80k there or there abouts.

So what about the 5 players we've signed?

Wages for:

Cofie
Miller
Blackman
Westlake
McMahon

These have to be offset against the wages we've saved. I'm guessing 25k or so there.

In essence then, we've saved around £55k/week which equates to approx £2.5m annually

I fail to see how we can be down to a £5m wage bill already as suggested in an earlier post. We can't be. Everytime we make a saving by offloading a high earner there's an offset against his cheaper replacement

The average wage in league one is around £1.5k ...................... still think we will be paying these £5k each ??? not a chance, maybe Man U are still paying Cofie's wages too. I can't see any of them being on more than £4k, doubt Miller and Westlake will not be on anything near that.

Fair enough, but the whole thread re players wages is pure speculation is it not?

While I may have over estimated the wages of players coming in, the players wages saved who have left may also have been over estimated

I'm just making the point that any savings made against players offloaded has to be offset against their replacements, that's all buddy

Average Championship earnings are £4,059 a week (£211,068 a year), less than a fifth of players one division above.

I don't think we are giving the big guns out anymore.

Do you have a source for that? I just expected the figure to be much higher.
Can't remember where I read it but we should be able to pay above average wages in this league where clubs who have 4k attendances will be unable to pay much at all under the new rules. I can't imagine Crawley paying £4k-£5k to all their players. Not trying to sound like the massive but most in this pub league average less than 10k attendances and most less than half of what we get.

Yes it is all speculation I have to agree but we lost Ched £1m saved there with the others who were released in the summer I reckon we should be close to cutting the wage bill down to £4M p.a losing Monty and Cresswell would see another £1M saved selling Quinn would maybe give us a bit of money to spend and reduce the wages enough to be able to bring in 2 more players. Cutting the wage bill is not hard to do when we have players on stupid amounts ................... that is if you can convince some mugs to take them off our hands.

£1.5K is probably a good estimate for a lower end L1 player. A colleague of mine is friends with an ex Aberdeen striker who has played around the lower leagues/Blue SQ for the past few seasons, (Darlington, Grimsby & Luton to name a few) and his wage is around the £800 p/w mark.

Aha, righto. I hadn't given it much thought but I was guessing that the silly wages the likes of SUFC pay would bump the average up.

If Ched was on £20k a week, then he was the equivalent of an entire match day squad for, say, Rochdale.

Even 4million averages just under £4k for a 20 man squad. Collins and Doyle must be on more than i thought if we are still well over budget. Of the estimated 20k that cresswell and monty are getting I can still see us paying half to them if we can get rid of them.

Just goes to show what football suicide clubs commit when relegated from the Premier League. It might hurt us now but let us just do what we need to do so we can run properly and not assisted.

Just thinking what a fookin hard life footballers have. For say 15 years they get the best medical treatment available, even if they are poor league one standard they will earn in a week what I graft for in a month. I would need to work around 60 years to get what they do in their short 15 year careers, and if I was a really shit footballer I could sit on my arse for another 30 years as a TV pundit. Bless em.

Unfortunately this is where education does let them down. Once they are finished it's bit like sending a 10 year old out into the real world.

Jealous?

I certainly am.

A basic level of talent at one particular sport and off you go into a world of journalism without the slightest qualification or aptitude for the job. Most of them can barely read never mind write something of interest. You only have to read some of the drivel that passes as auto biography from ex footballers.

Basically though, going back on topic, I think I can safely keep the old skiddies in place on this one.
We have to reduce our wage bill from an unknown amount, by an unknown amount, taking into account wages we can only guess at. No new panties for me I'm afraid.
