Yeah I agree he fits all that.

But so you really reckon paying 5-7mil and probably around 30k+ a week for someone to be a Ben Osborn when we need him, is a good idea? Much rather try and put that money towards Souttar than him.
You'd pay £5-7mil for a CB that hasn't kicked a ball in over 1 year ?

Souttar who's coming back from a very serious injury , and would be on a similar wage , and take weeks if not months to get up to full speed......that souttar??

Sorry but it would be insane to spend anything on Souttar.

He’s had full Achilles reconstruction, then had it operated on again. Hes not kicked a ball in a year and has only just started training again.

He’s weeks away from being anything like ready and it’s also a huge IF that he ever returns to anything like the level he was at before. A lot of people never regain full mobility after a surgery like that and a fairly high percentage suffer from reduced flexibility and strength in the lower leg / foot. When you’re an elite athlete ever percentage loss matters.

If he plays 10 + games between now and the end of the season and looks something like his old self then maybe. This January would be insane. This was also his second major injury requiring surgery after also having his ACL done. It would be a massive gamble even if he was very cheap

Whatever you think of Hamza, or what it might cost us to sign/pay him, comparing him to Ben Osborn is just a little bit daft.

Hamza definitely wants the move but we won't get anywhere near his salary. If it does happen then it says a lot about his character as he will undoubtedly be taking a fair whack in his monthly pay packet.

Another loan could be a possibilty perhaps, but I would go for that in the summer and see how he gets on until then as you quite rightly say.

Can he cover multiple positions....yes
Can he give us much needed experience...yes
Can he fit straight into our set up....yes

Is he worth £50k a week…..no

I doubt you’ll find anyone that wouldn’t want him back based purely on football ability. The problem is the wages, he’s just not worth anywhere near the money he’s currently being paid.

Do we know for sure that he's on £50k a week?

Edit. Just checked and he is. His current contract expires in June 27. Too much for now.

I'm a big fan of Hamza, but I'd heard he's in £69k PW. Leicester are paying massive wages still (Winks is on £80k PW and is effectively on strike). Hamza has got the deal of the century and I can't see us paying £20k a week more than we pay Hamer for a dependable utility man.

Unless Hamza is prepared to take a massive pay cut, put this one in the Tommy Doyle category. He'd love to come, but we can't afford him.

I mean that's what his role would be? He'd be covering both middle of park and fullback positions to save some legs when needed? So it's not that daft cause that's what Ben Osborn did, never said he was miles better or worse than him 🤣

I can't see leicester letting hamza out on loan, he's starting in there team, was captain the other day when they beat somebody 2-1 on December 29th ,cant remember who they played off hamd

He can't have been that good as he was then on the bench against us, came on, sat too deep between the centre backs, shanked a couple of awful clearances and generally stunk up the place as much as his teammates

He was injured and was subbed off
Your description of his game at lane doesn't match my memory of him
He. Was calm and composed and settled them down with some assured midfield shielding and distribution

no me neither some posters on here seem to have an agenda against choudray but i think he would be a good and very useful signing but may depend if he will drop his salary

You watched a different game than me,came in at centre back, looked comfortable, drifted in midfield without noticing, passed the ball with ease and filled in at right back when Leicester lost possession. He’s a classy player with good positioning sense.

I keep hearing about his salary. There isn’t a club outside Saudi who will pay him what he’s on. A drop in pay is inevitable for him. And I don’t see any club wanting him willing to pay him more than we probably could.

Unless he heads to Saudi the wage thing isn’t an issue.

He doesn't have to go anywhere.

He's contracted until Summer 2027. His agent has bagged him an unbelievable deal which he'd be daft to walk away from.

Our only route to signing Choudhury is on loan and taking on a hefty chunk of that salary.

Personally, much as I like him, I'm not sure we should use a loan slot on him. We should try to improve the XI with our loans. Choudhury undoubtedly strengthens the squad, but it's a big price for that.

Jairo has become our key player. He’s not our best individual player but he’s the one that makes us a team. The worry is we don’t have a backup or anyone to rotate in to keep him fresh.

It urgently needs addressing, it’s such a shame about Hamza’s wages as I’d love to see him back at our club. He was probably my favourite player by the end of last season, loved his passion and commitment.

You're all missing the point with Hamza. Not only is he an excellent utility player, a healthy, fit lad who can add some quality to many areas on the pitch, but no one's picked up on his hair. His hair is Premier League without a doubt. Chong tries to carry it off but with the highlights he's Burnley/West Ham at best, he just wouldn't hack it at that level.

Sydie has Aston Villa/Arsenal hair and wouldn't look amiss at their level and maybe Seriki could step up to the likes of say Tottenham. O'Hare has Bournemouth hair and with his nonstop running (and hairband) could do it. Coops could make it, his hair's pretty plain but for a goalkeeper at the top level that's fine.

Blaster is sadly bottom end Championship, as is Cannon, Gus, so many of the rest of the squad so come on lads, get some appointments made at Roger Sherwoods and watch our form go through the roof. Sign Hamza now and he can lead the charge. Don't be this...

Evening, Roger 👍😂

Roger Sherwood, that takes me back. When I had long hair and a beard in the mid 70's, went to Roger Sherwood and had a perm, then shaved my beard off. Nobody in my local pub recognised me and I got called Shirley Temple til it grew out 😅. Maybe that's why I'm as bald as a coot now 🤔☹️.

It seems that we’re trying to address that by signing Rothwell
