Well, there are similarities in the playing style - tough tackling and get-rid-quick - and even in their appearance, with all that hair and menacing expression. I certainly hope Hamza's as successful for us as Trevor was.

John Harris's famous - though maybe apocryphal - instruction to Hockey was: "Win the ball and give it to Currie." It's not quite the same, but today's equivalent could be: "Win the ball and give it to Hamer."

I have in my mind that it was an instruction to David Bradford, rather than Trevor Hockey. My memory could be playing tricks though.

Yes, I can see Choudhury getting pissed off with our defence at some point. The pedestrian way they fuck about with it sometimes, will frustrate a pro active midfielder like him. Although with a player of his calibre in the middle it should in theory make their decision’s much easier.

David Bradford didn't play under John Harris, but probably received the same instruction from Ken Furphy.
I overheard Ken say this to Dave before the home game with QPR (1-1) . Dave just tapped his nose and nodded .

FACT

Trevor had around 12 months as an integral part of the promotion winning team and subsequent initial success enjoyed back in the first division.
Once he suffered his broken leg and came back after recovery, he was a shadow of his former self.
John Harris ditched him rapidly and went with Keith Eddy in that role
Trevor shone brilliantly during that initial period, using his limited talents to the maximum, but his fall was rapid.

That's the reason hockey was bought as we had strong tackler in midfield. So Hockey's job was go in hard and then give the ball to Currie. Thats why Harris bought him.

Not sure what date he signed but I saw him score a beauty at St Andrews the first match of our second season in the First Division.

During Hockeys hey days opposing supporters would call him a werewolf and had a song pointing this out. He was the type of player that people would hate but secretly wished he played for them

That's a pretty tight turnaround for Friday.
Hope Souza's fit.
Exactly what I was thinking Morgans. 3 days turnaround with a long flight across multiple time zones. Not ideal at all, especially for a friendly.

I doubt he will be travelling cattle class, indeed it wouldn't surprise me if it was a private charter. Just speculation, I have no knowledge one way or the other.

I really don’t see what he offers apart from tackling. Very limited player. Not a fan at all.
When we have to take the game to the opposition he’s a waste of a shirt. We saw that away at Derby.

Ok against the better teams where you have less of the ball.

good player the gaffr worked with at watford hes really positive signing i hope we get him permanantely hes different type of midfielder hard tackler and hes class hamza,,utb...
Nope not good enough one decent game against Coventry
