In midfield, isn't Souza our most irreplaceable player ?
Let's say his injury affects his availability in the second half of the season - can Morton perform his role ?
Can Peck or Davies ?

Until his injury v Mackems , Souza has been indispensable in midfield , with his leadership attitude & dominant physique.
Losing him is a risk which needs mitigating.

And yet without him we’ve carried on winning. It’s the sum of the parts that matters. None of the current team are irreplaceable, the last time we had that was Ndiaye in the promotion season. We could do with another CM though.

With the waste of an expensive loan as a back up?
As I said above, crazy talk.

Yes we have, thankfully against poor teams.even then our midfield was non existent against Plymouth he’s a massive miss

Why do become obsessed with signings certain players. His name seems to get mentioned nearly every transfer window on here. I've never been sure why!

The guy's 27 and spent most of his career sat on the bench.

I like Luca Connell at Barnsley.

Just 23 send already captaining the team.

Near the top of chances created in their entire league.

Barnsley fans really worried about losing him in January.
I wouldn't mind us going for him too. I've not seen him much of late but he's always impressed me when I have previously.

Wilders policy used to be to buy team captains or players of the year, presumably as irrespective of the position, its a way of ensuring fitness. leadership and fan appeal..

Because that is our fans in a nutshell I am only surprised they haven't called for us to sign Sam Morsy

Have we actually been linked with this guy in the media at all or just fans speculating on his merits? I know it's a player suggestion but that was started in 2020!

I don’t think being a squad player at Leicester means he’s a bad player and not good enough for us.

It’s not like he’s sitting on the bench at a midtable championship club.

They are not significantly better than us and it's not as if we're getting someone off Chelsea's bench.

Best guess is that he's a Ben Osborn sort. Relied on to do a job, gets stuck in and can play in multiple positions. But never good enough to hold down a starting place. Do we need that right now?

He's a player capable of dominating a midfield at championship level but he's gone a bit off the rails and needs his role simplifying and his confidence building

Perfect Sheffield United!/ Chris Wilder type signing
Someone we could turn into a top player

He made 15 starts and 19 sub appearances last season in the Championship. Sounds ideal to me, Vini as first choice with Choudhury to bring on off the bench or to start if Vini is injured or needs a rest.

We aren’t going to sign someone better than Vini, so we need to sign a squad player to fulfill his role when needed. At Championship level, there won’t be too many better options.

Why on earth would he swap Leicesters bench for our bench?

He's got Soumare, Winks and Skipp ahead of him. Leicester paid £50m for those 3

So we burn a loan on a player we hope to use mainly from the bench?
Out of interest who are the other two loans you’d be wanting? Presumably BBD is one but if we’re wasting a loan on a sub where are you filling our other critical gaps from?

Suggestions started by such respected OPs don't fade easily.

i think if choudray signs he goes straight in with souza and hamer in a midfield 3 playing a 433 system

He wouldn’t just be used as a back up, he’d no doubt play alongside Vini instead of Peck or Davies.

I’d expect we’ll be looking at permanent signings as well, so I don’t think we’ll have an issue with loans.
