For a start, hasn't he got way more than enough money already? He was the luckiest man in the world when Leicester offered him 18k p/w to do literally nothing. But it's not enough is it. Secondly, does he have no pride whatsoever? Or even the decency to stick around after the Scunny game if he knew he was taking the contract.
