I am sure this has been said before, but if we are only going to get £4M / £5M for him I would rather keep him and let the contract run down.
If he can help get us promoted somehow then he may want to sign another contract.
Better than spending money on large loan fees and agents fees for new arrivals.
He does need to get fitter though and cut out the petulant bookings.

a) In percentage terms, how much do you think Hamer would increase our chances of promotion compared to the situation where we sell him for the fee you quote?
b) How much more expensive do you think loan fees would be than Gamer's current wages?

If Hamer leaves I reckon it will be to go back nearer to Holland. Cause a PL club might tempt him for another crack at it.

Feel like Hull could be a hiding to nothing though. Although money talks if it's a better wage.

Stranger things have happened that he signs a new deal here. Don't quite see it happening myself but I wouldn't completely rule it out if we have enough money coming in from other sales OR new investment.

I'm fairly certain they have a sell on fee for him. Financially it could get complicated and I'm a tad worried we would be at a disadvantage
We bought for an undisclosed fee, rumoured to be £15m. If we end up selling him for £5m ish (most estimates around here given age / contract situation) then if we have to pay a sell on I’d be sacking anyone involved n negotiating the original purchase……along with anyone who played a role in our transfer business last summer!!

Get fitter and cut out the petulant bookings ?
Like that's ever gonna happen 🤔

We did sign him a few years ago and i think we all presumed he would leave when we got relegated and would have gone on to bigger and better things (not just kebabs). They had a sell on percentage with Gyokeres, so wouldnt surprise me with Hamer

You only pay a sell on with a profit! We will get no where near what we paid ! So logically no sell fee.

Hull is nearer Holland. Straight on the disco ferry

a) As a potential player of the Championship again I would say 'a little'. But fine margins and all that.
b) Probably similar numbers (inc all the costs involved). With the caveat there being that we are looking at some good premier league loans rather than something like Ogbene!

Gus knows Utd, knows Wilder and any new loan is more of a gamble.

Sell ons usually are only a percentage of profit above purchase

Thats what I was gonna say. So in theory, Coventry don't get anything as we have lost money

Why would Hamer sign for a club this summer and instead get a cut of those millions ( however many) in wages for himself? Unless a premier league wage hits him in the face of course.

I wouldn't be shocked if he stays.

From what I've seen and read, Hamer seems happy here and happy with his situation.

He's clearly never going to be the epitome of fitness but even if he's a bit overweight and not as fit as he could/should be, he's still far and away our best and most talented player while earning very good money. He could move to another club for an extra £10-20k a week but then he will most likely be forced in to changing his entire lifestyle only to end up back in the championship eating lettuce and no alcohol. Here he can do everything he wants, live the life he wants, eat and drink everything he wants, and still be adored by the majority. Ambition is overrated!

We're not going to replace Hamer for £5m we might get for him, just like we'll never replace Ndiaye or Berge for £15m apiece, we've never got close to replacing Norwood for the £2m we spent on him, and so on. If Hamer goes this summer we are heading for a few years of mid table oblivion.

An this says it all about where we are right now. We should be happy with a mediocre, CBA attitude.

Hamer will go if we get a buyer who’ll pay the fee and his wage demand

The club won’t and can’t afford to let him see his contract out and walk away for nowt
We could offer him a new one

The club have offered him a new deal it is all about him signing it as an alternative to being offered more money elsewhere
