From what I've seen and read, Hamer seems happy here and happy with his situation.

He's clearly never going to be the epitome of fitness but even if he's a bit overweight and not as fit as he could/should be, he's still far and away our best and most talented player while earning very good money. He could move to another club for an extra £10-20k a week but then he will most likely be forced in to changing his entire lifestyle only to end up back in the championship eating lettuce and no alcohol. Here he can do everything he wants, live the life he wants, eat and drink everything he wants, and still be adored by the majority. Ambition is overrated!

We're not going to replace Hamer for £5m we might get for him, just like we'll never replace Ndiaye or Berge for £15m apiece, we've never got close to replacing Norwood for the £2m we spent on him, and so on. If Hamer goes this summer we are heading for a few years of mid table oblivion.

An this says it all about where we are right now. We should be happy with a mediocre, CBA attitude.

Hamer will go if we get a buyer who’ll pay the fee and his wage demand

The club won’t and can’t afford to let him see his contract out and walk away for nowt
We could offer him a new one

The club have offered him a new deal it is all about him signing it as an alternative to being offered more money elsewhere

Hes gone backwards last few seasons Half arsed and booked almost every game get shut

I personally would get rid.
We could hopefully raise £5m and take his high wages off the books .
When he is good he is v good , but too much of a liability giving the ball away in dangerous positions, gets keyed for stupid fouls in ridiculous areas of the pitch which do not necessitate a foul

The point is that he can actually get away with it because he's good enough to. Would you rather get a Monty headless chicken type, or a Hamer who actually makes football enjoyable?

He needs the defensive responsibilities taken off him though. I've said it before but we waited a long time for someone to play the Duffy role, and now we have Hamer who is far better than Duffy even though Duffy was incredible for us.

He needs to play off the striker or in the middle of a 3 in 4231 but unfortunately we've just sold our best winger so I've got no idea what formation we'll be going with.

Is he? I mean, he's the one player we have who's capable of doing the outrageous, but his fitness is shocking.

He needs to actually do his defensive duties, he's not Salah or Messi.

And his fitness is woeful. A lack of personal responsibility and being accepted by the club's manager/ coaching team.

Shall we discuss 'culture'?

Half of the squad is unfit but Hamer seems to get called out for it more than most.

Wilder has never taken fitness and diet seriously which is why Brooks and Seriki's faces don't fit because they do take it seriously.

I hate the culture. We need a strong DoF to come in and basically say "Chris what the fuck is going on, we kick off in 2 hours. Peck has just rolled out of bed and Tyrese has just turned up with 4 Gregg's sausage rolls and doesn't look like he's sharing them".

Love that!

I think it's partly down to how obvious it is, he's often blowing out his arse after 40 minutes, and as a result of the fitness issues, he's often suspended for cynical fouls.

Whilst I do agree that fitness has been an issue. It's been an issue for the past 5 seasons.
And fitness did not seem to be an issue on the rise to the PL and first season back...
Which includes times when Wilder was not manager.

It was very notable in my opinion how "unfit" the squad seemed last August and September.
Under Hecky it was almost less fitness but overall conditioning. Because he focused on training at full tilt all the time the players often picked up injuries and when we had a 3 game week looked knackered in the midweek games after about 70mins. There are always a few exceptions though who can handle that level of demand.
Hecky even noticed it in the promotion season and had to pull it back a bit around the November/Dec time when players were dropping like flies.

Selles may have said he was focusing on fitness but for whatever reason alot of the squad came back in poor shape. Hamer, Campbell, Burrows, Cooper were one's that looked less conditioned.

Wilder has had 1 pre-season since being back. I really hope the fitness and conditioning is pushed this summer to help us.

Also with Brooks and Seriki it's only this season they have started to be able to play 90 mins consistently too. Before they seemed to be done by about minute 65.

Stick him in defence .... ya wouldnt get many players going round him 🤣

Say you don’t understand what you’re watching without saying “I don’t understand what I’m watching”.
Tell me your happy watching a unfit player through his own fault. stand by what i say get shut

I may think differently if he was not in the last year of his contract but needs must

I would sell Hamer and Seriki

They give the ball away and are flare players

What we need is a team of Jamie shackletons and Joe Rothwells with a sprinkling of Mark Mcguines's
Wilder's true stubbornness shines through with McGuiness. He is 100% a perfect Wilder signing, but because Wilder didn't sign him he got limited game time. It must have been a right struggle for him to play Bindon instead as he's another non wilder signing but he's a loan so a little more acceptable to his ego.
