He was top for assists according to Sky who just broadcast that info about 30 minutes ago. It is a surprise given his mid season yellow card suspension and the fact we were poor overall last year.

Maybe then he was in his best position. Best not tell the Coventry fan then who seems to know a lot more than we do about his best position. They really are such a knowledgeable bunch. Im hoping CW hires one of them as asst manager as promotion is seemingly guaranteed then.

Maybe he did ? Wasnt counting. But by his own standards from the previous season, he was still very very average.

Whilst a nice player (when he fancies it), the bottom line was that he was still very much part of the United team that had us rock bottom with no points under Selles, and then helped us finish at the giddy heights of 13th place. No player at SUFC did themselves justice last season, including Hamer. At times, id gladly have shot the lot of em!
He scored or assisted 17 goals last season. How many of your players did as well as this?

Lets hope so. Then its done and everyone can move on. Its best all round. Coventry sign the player they want (cant help but think its more the romance of bringing back an ex favourite for a 'bargain price' and bringing him 'home'), the lad gets a bumper pay rise and a longer contract for financial security for life (probably his last chance to get such a deal), United get a reasonable fee for a player in the last year of his contract who doesnt want to engage in contract renewal talks, and we save money from his existing very decent wages. Whats to say also that Hamer wouldnt go through the motions if we turned it down, knowing that he can sign a pre contract with Coventry in less than 5 months time?

The above aside, personally speaking, i dont want a player to be at the Lane playing for us, who doesnt really want to be here. Not good for the player or club, he doesnt want to get injured as he wants away, whilst everytime he doesnt play well he would be accused of not putting the effort in etc and doing ' a Lunny'.

Hes a luxury player for the championship and on his game he is really good. He also has many days when he isnt 'on his game'. Id have liked the lad to stay as a fan, but once it waa clear he wasnt entertaining stopping longer then a decision to move him on has to be made provided the money offered isnt daft. The £5.5m (if true) isnt brilliant but then we are dealing with the above mentioned realities and in the circumstances, its probably best for all concerned to take it and move on. Lets use the money to bring in some younger quicker more phyisically robust players who can last more than 60 mins a game.

This is the issue. We won't.

It'll either be a journeyman "culture carrier" like BBD or a Prem loan that we have no chance of ever signing so this time next year we are in better position.

Has anyone thought about it might be mind games being played from wilder with him saying hamer not engaged in contract talks with us .... maybe hinting to him we will sell u if U don't ect ....I have heard so many times he's happy with us ect ...got mates who see him most weeks shopping at Aldi in dronfield and they say he's always happy n chatting with them ....I know press are saying bids rejected ect ...but there maybe a outside chance he signs a new contract???

Seems to be some talk of a deal 6m +2m add ons being agreed and Hamer not playing tomorrow.

Guess we’ll see. On that basis, it seems Leicester were more determined to keep Souttar as he’s already played in the League Cup today.

How do we feel about that figure?
I hope those add ons are not dependent on Coventry staying up because they won't be worth the paper its written on.

I have heard similar since I work out in Dronfield.

With how somewhat irked Wilder was in the presser I doubt he is bullshitting on this one though.

No I totally agree but maybe it's his agent not him not wanting to engage in talks hoping for big money ect ...but wilder might be using the bids as point to get them to think about talking ect

Respect? Yet again you are on our forum, clown. I know cov is that boring but surely you have something else to do, like go and play on a motorway.

Some years ago on here, I remember somebody posting something similar to this, might have been those exact words, actually. The poster the remark had been made to, later posted to say that one of his children had tragically lost their life in a traffic accident, and that he had PTSD as a result of this. This poster made a plea for everyone to think before they post, because you never know the personal circumstances of people reading your posts.

Point being, I know the Coventry fans on here can be irritating, posting childish nonsense and cluttering up threads in which we're trying to discuss things that are important to us, but this part of your reply to one of them went too far. If they're irritating you enough to prompt you to post something like that, it's probably better to just ignore them, rather than posting something you might later regret.

If and when he's sold no one will know for how much ect ....if the star n Danny hall are saying stuff who really believes it ....the club n cov will be the only ones who know...even when sky report player sales at any club they don't really know they just pluck a amount out thinking it's correct....

No suprise.

The line about the money not going towards the Aussie is interesting as we obviously have SOME money to spend on a defender unless we were offering Leicester chocolate buttons

This is the price of failure, the owners have put alot of money into the club but they have failed on a number of accounts. Over paying for Cannon, buying players from their mate, sacking Wilder, over paying on every player Selles wanted both on transfer fees and wages. We cant say they haven't put money in, they've just used it in the wrong way and this was always going to happen we the parachute money ended. We still have a strong first team and can probably still afford to lose Peck and Borrows from that. But it's the strength in depth that's the issue and that will ultimately end in failure again.

Exactly what have we been bidding with monopoly money?

Hamer wasnt POTY last season. He was bang average / poor all season, with the odd moment of magic. Provided Coventry give us £5.5m then you are welcome to him.

No idea how many cards or games missed through suspensions...most SUFC fans werent particularly counting, as we tended to look better as a side when he wasnt playing.

Enjoy the PL. Pride really does come before a fall. I and a lot of Blades fans will be watching how you go and smiling over the season. Oh, and VAR. 😉
We don't deserve a player of his quality and shite like this shows it.
