CONFIRMED Hamer joins Coventry

Given Ruben's statement about a number 6 being a number 6 and he expects you to own and develop that position, I'm hoping that means Hamer plays central next season, which is good for everyone, assuming he stays. That said, would I rather lose Hamer or Souza if I had a choice of only keeping one? I'd probably keep Souza and let Hamer go.

One thing we can hope for with Selles is that he plays players in their right position. Assuming all are fit and no departures playing Souza in a holding role with Hamer and Blaster pushing on through the middle would be dynamite. I think Selles favours a 4 3 3 so those 3 as the middle 3 with Campbell down the middle of a front 3 and 2 wide men ( Brooks and another?] should cause plenty of problems going forward. We then have Seiki and Burrows at full back and potentially 2 new centre backs or Anel and one new one.

That team would be a good as any in the division. Over to you Rueben!

That was said before the start of last season when I said we had got a better replacement for O’Hare in Rudoni.

Saying that many football supporters are not good at spotting talent. We were told Huddersfield had us with our pants down at 4.5m 😂 If he starts off how he finished last season you'll be looking closer to 45m than 4.5m
£45 million for a player that scored 10 goals in the Championship?

Bit pricey that is mate.

As I said IF he continues as he left off. Second half of the season was unreal. A goal involvement most games and scored some very good goals.

English, tall and strong, scores and assists frequently. The type of player they take a shot at. Think he will be with us for 1 more season before either he goes for big money or it's our turn to get the dreaded promotion to the Prem.

And also look back. I said closer to 45m than 4.5m. 25m is closer to 45m than 4.5m 😂 Think it would take about 30m or.so to tempt us right now.

And yet some of our fans claim that zero goals Peck is worth £25mil. Go figure! 🤷‍♂️
I mean he’s not worth that but the gap in value between Peck and Rudoni wouldn’t be massive I don’t think despite the gap in output.

The championship market is weird and has been since Newcastle and then Villa broke it. Clubs are getting higher and higher values for their good players but the top end fees for top performers haven’t shifted much. For example fees for younger players with potential to grow are quickly and moving into the low 20’s area whereas top of market value for standout performers who are genuine Championship players and not sales from clubs coming down from the prem is still hovering around 25-30 only Watkins, Pedro, Gray and Rutter have topped 30. Jobe Bellingham as well if you’re counting him this summer which we probably should.

We’ve yet to see a Championship club other than annoyingly Leeds really recognise how the market has jumped and dig their heels in to demand fees for stars that are reflective of their value compared to their lesser performing peers.

Thanks for the reply. I'd take another 50% off of that £30m ;)

Are PSV realistically going to spend £20m or hopefully more on Hamer?

Their previous record for incoming fee was £16m in 2000

Unless we are open to selling him for no more than £12m + some add ons I can't see it either.

someone sharing this story on Istagram suggested £8-12m.

Probably depends to some extent if Hamer wants to force a move or not? Assuming they are in Champions League?

Even if he wanted to force a move. That's not going to mean we would let him go for that amount with 2 years left on his deal.

Fair enough if they have enough to cover the fee that the club would accept. (Can't say for sure what it is but surely got to be minimum around the £20m mark)
But it will absolutely be more than £12m unless there are some clauses somewhere of course.
As far as I was aware though there was a clause that expired at the end of last years summer window. That he could be bought for x amount of fee. (Think it was something like £18m or 20m). No one did it at the time.

I am expecting clubs will come in for him. Sadly I can see him going to an Everton, West Ham, Leeds, Forest, or even Sunderland.

I would be pleasantly surprised to see him still in a blades shirt post summer window, although it's not out of the question.

There were murmurings of homesickness when he was agitating for a move from Coventry, however, aren't Feyenoord his club?

That said, I'm sure PSV would be able to match his salary expectations and the lure of Champs League would be quite a draw - certainly better than going to hellholes like Wrexham and Coventry.

He's a Rotterdam boy, can't see him being bothered by anyone other than Feyenoord

I can see a move to PSV be tempting for him if they're serious. Might be his only shot at playing in the Champions League.

But they better make it worth considering for us.

Would hate to see him leave though. He is a cheat code at Championship level after all.

Our side wasn't very good other than Gyokeres and Hamer. Both of them ran for 90 minutes a game nearly every game. He is still quality but could be much better. Maybe playing him out of position most of the time has made him just go with the flow.
Save me some time please, fella, and tell me what formation you were playing when Hamer was with you, and what position played. Thanks.
