Yeah position wise were not too badly set up for a busy few months. Results need to change, but confident in this squad and manager to turn things around after a poor December

I'd imagine Jtw will be tweaks rather than the overhaul we saw in the summer. Centre half, striker and perhaps a bit more pace and height for the middle...

I think we'll be sending a few more out though

I'd imagine Jtw will be close to fuck all happening rather than the shambles we saw in the summer. Centre half, striker and perhaps a bit more pace and height for the middle are needed but almost certainly won't arrive.

I think we'll be sending a few of the players who should really be in the starting line up out though.

:)

We have massively under performed and I have my doubts about our ability to attract players that will improve us.

We have played 16 clubs in the top 18 and managed to beat 4 of them (one at home, three away).

This is just not good enough and we seem petrified of going at sides. COG will help but will he stay ?

Not really answering your question but last season on Boxing Day we had played 22 games with 22 points. We finished (46 games) with 67 points. Now if we had a similar second half of the season then this will give us a final tally of 88 points. Will that be enough?

Do we ever seem capable of performing in both halves of a match and both halves of a season?

I am confident that today's decision will prove to be the correct one.

No it won't. It'll give us 78 points.

If we are to have any chance of promotion this season, Clough needs to change his approach.

Ditch the mind numbingly boring and negative tactics. Stop worrying about the opposition - and treating the likes of Fleetwood and Oldham as if they are Real Madrid.

Try to win every game - don't set out to keep it tight in the hope we might nick it 1-0.

Stop the constant sideways and backwards passing - it achieves nothing.

Don't wait until we go behind before attacking in numbers - our abysmal goals scored record speaks for itself.

Play with more aggression - we play like whimps at times and are too easily bullied.

Play players in their correct positions and aim for a more settled team.

Appreciate that subs can be made before the last 5 minutes.

Stop falling out with players - it's happening too often.

Restore some pride in the shirt - in every game not just high profile cup games - and make the Lane a fortress again.

Bring in 2 or 3 quality players in the JTW.

Give our fantastic and loyal supporters the team they deserve.

Have any teams at the halfway stage got lower than 33 points despite being in the 6th position of any divisions? Will any of the teams below us be busier than us in the JTW. I am confident that we will finish strongly this season. Please trust Nige!

I suspect (or desperately hope) that when the powers-that-be sat down with NC in the summer and decided the budget, NC was given a total for the year and left to decide when to spend. Having seen the impact that the January influx last season had, he then decided to hold back most of the cash, make sure we're there or thereabouts come January, and then inject it into the squad for one big second half push.

Then again, we could have another month of chasing more unrealistic targets. Who knows.

Agreed but with an addition and an amendment .......
Amendment is : bring in 4 or 5 quality players in the JTW
Addition is: send Scougal and Baxter out on loan until end May, ship out some dead wood like Porter, McGinn, Doyle, Higdon ....

We may still be 6th after today's results but the trend is that we are going South, rapidly. Given the tough schedule this coming January we will be 9th or 10th by the end of it. That doesn't seem like a very good situation to me. It's not a spring board for a storming run as we are conceding soft goals from the only one or two chances poor teams create against us and we are not taking any of the 2 or 3 we create before we go behind.

When we come up against a team that will attack us (like Swindon) we will buckle and ship a shed load again. I'll bet MK Dons are licking their lips for our upcoming visit.

We're too soft for this division. That's shown by how often we can perform well against higher opposition but struggle in the physical battle of a standard league 1 fixture. We need tanks when we have scouts

JTW....We'll probably sell Murphy to wolves or something..

We didn't drop two points at home today, that's an improvement.

He'll have to be Jesus to stretch that £1

I wouldn't send Baxter and Scouggs out on loan mate, that would be crackers. They might be out of form but they are good enough at this level as proved last season.

If we were to send them out on loan we'd be more than likely helping some other side out in this league and that wouldn't be the brightest thing to do.Lets give them a break,or just play one of them,Baxter for me and Scouggs as the impact player.

As much as we would like to see 5 new players, that isn't going to happen unfortunately.Play Reed a bit more, get Cuvelier match fit,Adams and young Wallace up to speed, get McNulty starting ffs,try and get Wallace fully fit before playing him for not even one full half and add 2 maybe 3 players and we won't be far away.

Now there is a lot of ifs, buts and maybes and us the fans can't do fuck all about it but i really do hope our club can tweak this into a good season, that's all it would take imo.

I just don't think they're effective in this Division because they're too lightweight. They may be ok in the Championship but not for the "agricultural" Division we're stuck in !!

We need some strength and pace in the team and we've demonstrated that since September. I think we can afford the luxury of one from Reed / Scougal / Baxter / Doyle / Flynn in the side in this Division imho and tbh I would opt for Reed out of them.

I agree. Sadly the likes of Charlton, Weds in years past and Bristol, MK, Preston this year are proving, you need a physical side with a lot of 6 footers in it that takes no prisoners. You can play some football as Wolves/Brentford did (they were big sides too) but our sides of weaklings is not going to do it. I kind of agree I think both players have looked better v Prem teams etc. However unsure if either is good enough. If Walllace does not get fit we need a big commanding midfielder. Indeed, we need 3 players right through side (now O'Grady has gone back) that gives is that physical/power presence. Currently we are a soft touch.

Looking through the posts on here we agree on what is needed, now lets see what they do, because to be honest I can't see any of this lot happening........
