Doesn't matter what they did after they left, the point is we needed them.

selling deane an fjortoft did scupper us at the time , but that was 20 years ago

cant see how our current board are accountable for that
this is the annoying bit
every bad thing thats ever happened to us is lumped together as a sort of homage to shittiness and kept as keepsakes to beat the club with
I dare say McCabe is responsible in some way for the boxing day massace in Pommpeys eyes

Loving all this antagonism from certain quarters, just because we are on a winning run.

As I have said on many occasions, I am happy to be proven wrong, but only when it is as a result of a continued string of good performances and wins, which is the case at the moment.

But let's not separate the original issue from the current. Yes - we are winning in spite or Murphy's exit not because. There is a difference. People on here are now acting as it we actually didn't need Murphy and his sale was a canny bit of business. I hope this is correct, but again, I am doubtful. According to accounts, we still are not well equipped in the left wing area and a lot of our positivity last season came from Murphy (because the rest of the team were so poor in all other areas)

Some people on here are strangely silent when occurrences such as Murphy's departure are discussed. Yet when the sun shines, they are all over the subject like shit on a blanket. Fill your boots, but be very aware ... we are Sheffield United and have the propensity to turn to dogshit at the flip of a switch. The loss of Murphy might still prove decisive.

Bert's gripe was you calling fellow supporters "daft twats" and season ticket holders "cabbages".

And really, those who see Murphy's sale as a good thing were my target for the 'daft twats' jibe. How anyone can see the sale of our best player as a positive move really confounds the notion of being a successful football club. The 'cabbages' jibe I will also stand by. It seems strange that once all the season ticket cash has been scooped in then we habitually hole the campaign below the waterline by flogging our beat prospects. Double-bubble for the board. Season ticket cash in and a supplementary (undisclosed) amount rather than inject the investment where needed and from the sources we'd hoped would be the providers. The board treat such supporters as 'cabbages' in my opinion.

I really hope our turn round is permanent, because it will shut cunts like me up and commit our comments to the bin. But I expect nothing more than automatic promotion, and really, every other Blade who has suffered the last five years should expect the same. Looks like ... given recent fortunes ... we might just be off to the start the Gillingham game denied. I hope so. But don't count your chickens. Last time we were in these lofty altitudes we were confident of our runaway success in the league until we lost our best player and our balloon deflated rapidly.

Although i wasnt happy for Murphy going (timing less than ability) it does seem to appear that your outlandish ha ha ha ha outburst appears to be unwarrented.

To say we are winning unspite of Murphy is a little self indulgent. To simply try a dig your way out.

The only game murphy played in we got tonked 4-0... since then we have gone from strength to strength (fulham aside)

This isnt in spite of.. this seems to show he actually wasnt needed anyway...

Sure its early days (but not as early as your outburst which is currently biting you in the ass) which seems to be a common theme in your posts....

Okay. You're entitled to your opinion. So am I.

To say we are winning unspite of Murphy is a little self indulgent. To simply try a dig your way out.

But you are implying that, since Murphy went, we are a changed side. Implying he hampered our progress, and his departure was beneficial? So, we are winning because of his departure? Odd then that last season he ripped opposition defences to bits and cracked in a few bloody good goals for us whilst his attacking counterparts looked like they'd taken root in the penalty area that people were actively saying that if we didn't have him, we'd be nowhere.

The only game murphy played in we got tonked 4-0... since then we have gone from strength to strength (fulham aside)

Yep. And looking at our overall abject performance that day, I'd say Murphy was pretty blameless for the four goals we shipped. Your point is ... what?

This isnt in spite of.. this seems to show he actually wasnt needed anyway...

Keep saying it. It eventually will become the truth, you know. I still say a talismanic attacking winger of his ilk is more needed than ditched. I challenge you to provide proof United would have lost these recent games with Murphy in the side. It's what you are implying, rather clumsily.

Sure its early days (but not as early as your outburst which is currently biting you in the ass) which seems to be a common theme in your posts....

Hey, lets switch the theme from 'Murphy vs the current form' to your personal dig at me, yeah? It'll change everything you know. I challenge you to show everyone where you get the notion that Murphy was somewhat of a hindrance to the club and we are better shut of him (as you are implying)

Also, show me where the cash for him is being re-invested, please?

I'm sure you don't care pommpey but thought I'd tell you that I 'like' your posts because they make me laugh and I love your turn of phrase eg "like shit on a blanket".
I don't necessarily agree with your opinions, you're a bit too much of a conspiracy theorist for me, but I do enjoy reading your opinions nonetheless.

Diplomatic Creep. Let him rant.thats what this forum is for. Thing that startles me is we've been here many times before so he should be used to it by now?

I think thats the reason he kicks off, because we have been here before, here at Beautiful Downtown Groundhog Lane

People are starting to realise this. Back in the day, I used to be one of those picking off Len de Goey for being an antagonistic, pessimistic wanker.

Nothing less than automatic. Everyone start saying it, right now.

I don't. So I usually ignore them, or say 'What a load of bollocks'. IMHO of course.

What's wrong with liking reading it even if you don't agree with it? Perhaps I am a 'diplomatic creep'. Makes me laugh that so many rise to the bait.
Did you mean 'so WE should be used to it by now'?

you see this is whats annoying
the constant repetitive looking for failure

its like please please fail so Im proven right

theres a theme of when anything goes ever so slightly wrong ,,zooooom there in
"I told you the shittiness was still around"
if we are winning a game and a team scores a late undeserved equaliser , oh how theyll love it
its nectar to them

"I told you we arent improving, never will"

only happy if theres a glimmer of a set back
and out come all the historic cliches

Fucking hell where did De Goey come from ?
Throw in Tony Moore, Richardson , Bourne, Butlin and other legends from those dark days:)
Our generation of Blades should never get upset

I absolutely get Pompey's posts, they are sometime more vitriolic and use stronger language than I would, but it is hard not to agree with their essence / argument. Which one of us hasn't felt that annual stab of pain after investing in a season ticket and then hearing the two Kyle's, MacDonald, Quinn (insert name of any saleable asset) has been sold. Each time with no realistic prospect of reinvestment or replacement.

I think that McCabe got lucky with the princes investment and critically somehow after years of managerial merry go round stupidity they have landed a great manager. It is early days, but I think Adkins has quickly shown his qualities in moulding the squad into something (against all my expectations) that looks quite formidable. I just hope and pray that we take the long term view with NA and he is backed when required in the transfer market.

What I don't get Pommpey is that there doesn't seem to be any emphasis on pointing out the Murphy might have wanted to leave! Sheffield united or any club for that matter can only do so much to persuade a player to stay. (as we're seeing with De Gea at Man U) SUFC gave murphy a new contract in January and everyone was happy. Along came Brighton but it could be any club and offered him more than he was getting at sufc. If you were headhunted Pommpey by a new employer offering more money and better status knowing your current employer couldn't match it would you stay or would you complain that you current employer didn't do enough to keep you.

What I'm getting at is that a player has to want to leave and the club can only do so much. If you want to have a go maybe direct some ire at Murphy for not wanting to stay.

Gillingham-gate brought the biggest hissy fit since Rudi Voller at WC90. We've then gone and subsequently sold Scotland's version of Christiano Ronaldo. Given you predicted 4th pre-season, I'm surprised your expectations have risen to top 2?

Hey Blades, there were a good few other posters who had a go on the Hahahahaha thread. Are they still posting? There was another entitled " Should I finally give them up" or something similar. Loads more on that thread too, some who should know a lot better too.

Hang about, Rudi Voller got spat on, twice!

It was the other twat, Rijkaard, that had the hissy fit.

well according to you we have lost our best player, and as far as I can see the balloon hasn't deflated. There is still time though I'll grant you that.

Oh yes, I feel it, but not in such a vitriolic way. Good word to use Caveblade.

Well fuck me we win four games on the bounce and we are suddenly world beaters .................... how piggy like. I'll just remind the uber positive types we are in our FIFTH season in league one, once again we have sold our best player and with only a day to go don't look like replacing him and/or investing the money back into the team as promised.
Adkins is doing well at the moment but we are still a work in progress and have done fuck all yet, are the board going to try and do it on the cheap again or build on what has become a good start to the season and nail us onto the top spot come next May ?

Maybe Adkins doesn't want to reinvest the money and thinks the squad we have are good enough. Or is that to unlikely perchance!!!!! Give me strength. Murphy didn't have to leave but chose to, no one forced him and Adkins has money but doesn't want to spend it. This may not fit with some fans idea of hell that is SUFC but its what is happening. Get over it.

Obviously the centre half or midfielder that we will announce tomorrow will not count as reinvesting in the team. It will be two out and three in by end of tomorrow including the aforementioned world beater.

We lose a world beater and become world beaters. I like that.

Ah so we don't need a centre back or maybe a midfielder too ............... OK
