When has the board of SUFC ever invested wisely ? I have the feeling Woolford is JM's replacement :(

I must be the only one that's not really bothered. Jamie is a good player on his day but his form is too on and off for my liking, he has a hot streak and then goes missing for weeks on end. He also lacks any sort of physical presence which has always been an issue for me.

Good luck to the lad and I'm sure he will do ok at Brighton but if we really have received a rumoured £2.5m then that is fantastic because he is a touch overrated by our supporters if you ask me. Good player but not irreplaceable.

Of course he is we like playing left midfielders on the right side of midfield don't we

But when you are overstocked on right sided players and not enough left you release the right side and bring in the left side. Shall we just change the whole squad overnight, a bit like on Football Manager, and then let them just gel together in one or two games, a bit like on Football Manger, so that in 5 years time we are Champions League winners, a bit like on Football Manager? Or shall we redress the balance, ensure you have two players for each position and then improve each position as and when you can, a bit like in the real world.

You do talk rubbish we just sold a left winger his replacement is Woolford

You do talk rubbish

I'll quote you on that sometime. Sure it won't be long :)

To be serious for a second though, I think you'll find that the manager thinks Adams will develop into that area this year with Woolford as the back up and support for now.

It's different in the ways described.

As I see it the Prince arrived at the club with the aim of taking us into Division 1 - which is where the money is. And Phipps has stated that the money will be reinvested in the first team.

Unless I'm missing something aren't the owners losing millions while we are out of the top flight? If nothing else it's in their interests especially the Prince to get us there. But that may be a separate thread.
I've been behind the owners; they've backed Clough unbelievably well, and also Adkins - I cant imagine Billy Sharp was a cheap deal overall. Of course its in their interest to get us up, that's not in doubt. I'm just feeling disillusioned by it all, after being somewhat led up the garden path by previous statements of intent.
To me, it seems as though either:
a) talk of "game-changing" and further investment when/if promoted is hot air, and nothing like
OR
b) this current squad is scarily financially unsustainable.

I'm not sure which is preferable. A friend of mine who lurks on here described it as terrible PR, given the investment in January; I'd have to agree with that - they've certainly turned this believer into a sceptic now.

I do not get all the excitement. Soccer is a business, just look at the volume of players changing clubs. As a soccer player with 10 years (if lucky) to make my money, I will go where I get the best deal - wouldn't you?

Soccer? Jim is that you?

so now Murphy is on a par with Gll Reece one of our best ever wingers

Reece wasnt much of a winger since I started watching the Blades in 1970. He was more of a second striker and very good at attacking crosses and was a good goal poacher. He scored a brilliant solo goal against Birmingham in April 1971 but i do not recall him doing the same or assisted a goal from a cross. Was he really a winger in the 1960s?

had we sold Murphy first then bought sharp
would that still be short sighted
one in one out
think youll find most clubs do that
next question is murphy better than sharp

have we really weakened the squad with these 2 bits of business not one both
All books need to be balanc
I'll answer that, and have a think about my suggestion:

What if we went up? Well, obviously this squad as it stands would be torn a new arsehole even by the lesser teams above us. It would need radical strengthening in all areas, or Saturday's penising by Gillingham would seem like a decent afternoon out in Kent.

This obviously involves investment, doesn't it? McCabe doesn't like investing in the team much as we have seen. Whilst cabbages buy up the season tickets before we have kicked a fucking football for the new season based upon empty optimism in Positive Nige and all the assumed stardust he can sprinkle on our squad of losers, McCabe is happy. He can shove a lot of cash the way of a new Desso pitch, like we don't fucking need centre backs at all and our midfield is strong and agile and we are booting goals in for fun.

So it suits him to underplay the squad, as long as there are 15k+ through the turnstiles and this years kit is flying off the shelves.

Big city, small town club.

That's why.

Do you like to ask questions and answer them yourself? Bit like Michael macintyre (spelling?) laughs at his own jokes!!

Think you may be right ;)

Whilst cabbages buy up the season tickets

Really??? If I had every weekend off I would buy a season ticket. Because I'm a Utd fan and have been all my life. Not because of the new pitch or the spin put out by the club. I'm not a 'clapper' nor am I someone who revels in any bad performances and bad news. I'm a fan and I like going to the lane. I would suggest that the majority who buy them are like me. Cabbages??? Come on mate, get a grip.

Good atmosphere on the Kop yesterday, didn't notice anyone throwing their shoes towards the Board. Must have been a disappointment for some.

I don't understand how people are so shocked and appalled by this transfer. In 2015 a club in a higher division offer a good amount to both lower division club and player, what happens next?

Please advise as to realistic alternatives, bearing in mind that South Yorkshire does not engage in the practice of using Qatari style exit visas. Essentially if Murphy gets a better offer than we can afford that also includes not trying to help us get out of this division for the fourth year in a row, he's going to want to take it. Employers can't stop you moving jobs.

'Undisclosed?' Two million? Two and a half? C'mon McCabe - out with it you plank. How much did our best player go for and how much did you actually spend on that fucking pitch? How much are you making availabe to our new manager
Do you really think that's a good idea? Announce our budget to the rest of the world just for your benefit? They're coy about things for a good reason.

Why do grown adults think press releases and conferences are held solely for the fans of the club? One day they'll find out WWE isn't real.

Those clappers who "had it on good authority" that Murphy was happy and settled in Sheffield with his family blah blah blah might now realise that not one professional footballer in this whole corrupt game is loyal to a club no matter how much they blub/shout/articulate their love for a club.

They are all looking for the next deal to secure their next pay day and line their own pockets. The quicker people get over the feelings that we are different to any other club in the world the better. We hold no more appeal than a team like Chesterfield, in fact if Chesterfield offered a player more money than we could I am pretty certain a player would join them instead.
And big Billy would have been a pig now.

Let's see the optimists pour some sunshine on our best player (and really, only source of goal threat).

The sooner you guys wake up and realise this board doesn't want our team out of this division, the better. All this talk of 'well, he wasn't that good ... " riddle-me-this:

So, who goes out wide left now to draw in two players to negate the threat? Which player is now as good as Murphy to run at the opposition? Why have we fucking sold him? 'If he wants to go, nowt we can do.' Bollocks. He signed a fucking new contract last year. And you daft twats are already believing the shit being fed out to you like paper off a fucking bog roll. 'Undisclosed?' Two million? Two and a half? C'mon McCabe - out with it you plank. How much did our best player go for and how much did you actually spend on that fucking pitch? How much are you making availabe to our new manager now he has had his first taste of what you bastards do periodically to this club?

It's like the South Stand and Tony Currie going up the road for peanuts never fucking happened, did it?

Jesus. I am depressed. Deane, Fjortoft, Quinn, Jagielka, Brown, Borbokis, Blackman, S Quinn, McDonald, Maguire but to name a few. What, if ever, came the other way but for substandard players? Christ, we had to almost burn down Bramall Lane to get the daft bellends to buy something with (some of the) the two and ahalf fro Maguire and that wasn't a centre back.

Fuck the board. Good luck Jamie. You were my best player in the past two seasons.

pommpey

Pommpey, you still out there? Not heard a thing from you since we've won every league game after selling Murphy. The cabbages who bought season tickets await your words of wisdom.

ha ha ha ha

missing Murphy , our only goal threat ? really
shows how wrong people can be

since he left hes scored zero and weve won every league game
and his replacement billy sharps scored again

let it go
hes no longer with us
hes not a sheffield united player so is of absolutely no interest to us

he was ok , now hes someone elses player and we are doing fine
posts saying we need him are as much use as saying Jagielka should still be here

Really??? I think he played in one game didn't he?...

This team will be so good by the end of the season that Murphy would hardly be worth a place on the bench. Watch him sink like a stone at Brighton.
