blade too long
we go again
Not lost a league game since Murphy went have we ?
he left leaving us adrift at the bottom , but weve climbed to an automatic spot without him , scoring plenty and keeping clean sheets
cant think of any reason to miss him

Pommpey, you still out there? Not heard a thing from you since we've won every league game after selling Murphy. The cabbages who bought season tickets await your words of wisdom.
thanks for thatOnly a matter of time before someone posts that we've won all these games because we sold Murphy.
I think he popped in briefly after Fulham's third....
Yes small club your rite, premiership is 23 seasons old we've been there for 3. We have languished around the lower leagues more or less since we formed. No trophy since 1925,
missing Murphy , our only goal threat ? really
shows how wrong people can be
I'm sure Pompey hopes this thread bites him on the bum.
Totally agree.Murphy was by far and away our best player when he was here, and the fact that posters are implying his contributions in the past have been a hinderence just because we've sold him is a shame to see. Would you be uttering such words should Murphy still be in a Sheffield United shirt? I suspect not and I would go as far as saying that if someone was to post negatively towards Murphy whilst he was here then said poster would get ridiculed for stupidity on this board. It's time to realise that the Murphy sale and the rise up the league are about as independant from one another as is physically possible, and to suggest otherwise is quite ludicrous in my view.
I couldn't believe it when Reed was getting grief over his performances at the end of last season. He's only 18 FFS!! Firstly, he was playing in an under performing side, secondly he was probably playing to some daft instructions from Negative Nige and thirdly it was his first full season as a pro - and then we expect our players to play without fear? Unbelievable.I think some are going to find it hard to accept that Adams will not play week in week out ,he will have to be managed the same as Reed and other young players are. Maguire was an exception to this but he was an exceptional player who is sadly been wasted at the moment.
I agree Murph was our best performing individual player. But it's the sum of the individual parts argument, for whatever reasons the team wasn't balanced while he was here and that potentially denied him service and/or put to much onus on him to carry the results.Murphy was by far and away our best player when he was here, and the fact that posters are implying his contributions in the past have been a hinderence just because we've sold him is a shame to see. Absolute bollox to suggest we've started winning because he's gone. I think we do still miss him at the moment because I don't think Adams is the answer on the left and I think he's uncomfortable there and his best position is up top. Of the current squad, maybe Woolford is the better option but I can see why Adkins is persisting with it and as we are winning, it's not a big problem.
Annoys me when former players are abused. Get over it, that's life.
Agree with both you and barney if it's serious but I'd like to believe that the Murphy comments are classic sheffield tongue-in-cheek humour. Whilst we are winning without him and he may not have been the most consistent player we've had, there's no denying that on his day (and he had lots that weren't his) he would still be a positive addition to the current side.
Whether he'd be a positive addition to the "team" only he, the players, and the staff know that.

to be fair 47 other teams below the championship could pick out 4 or 5 players theyd sold in the past 4 years and argue the same case , doesnt always follow thoughTo expand the argument, what did we get for Maguire, McDonald, Murphy and, say, Quinn? Let's say £6m. I think we'd have been in the Championship now if we'd held on to that little quartet - all sold in the last 24 months.
...........and by the very same, when we play shit, certain other posters are incredibly absent too.
We all want the same thing, some people vent, others take stock and seek reason. As Brian of Nazareth once said "We're all different"![]()
I agree and I think everyone was disappointed to lose Murphy. I think the issue is that after one sale or one defeat, "I'm disappointed at that sale / defeat" is conflated to:
A) The Board haven't put any money in
B) The Board are taking money out
C) The Board are going to sell the freehold for 100s of millions of pounds and build a new ground for 30 quid
D) The investment doesn't exist and is a elaborate ruse to run the club into the ground
E) McCabe doesn't want us to go up as its too expensive and anyway he's too busy being the devil incarnate
It generally then ends up being reduced to sentiments such as "you're all idiots for continuing to support the club" and the emphasis is on anyone who disagrees with the A) to E) to prove it unequivocally.
It's tiresome.
Let's see the optimists pour some sunshine on our best player
Jesus. I am depressed. Deane, Fjortoft, Quinn, Jagielka, Brown, Borbokis, Blackman, S Quinn, McDonald, Maguire but to name a few. What, if ever, came the other way but for substandard players? Christ, we had to almost burn down Bramall Lane to get the daft bellends to buy something with (some of the) the two and ahalf fro Maguire and that wasn't a centre back
