Grumpy blades on RS

Four callers had exactly the same conversation...

Caller: I just don't understand why Wilder hasn't played Brooks and Clarke.
Presenter: Well, maybe coz it's 3 games in 6 days, Clarke's apparently just been recovering from injury, and Brooks is a young lad, and Duffy has perhaps merited a start with his performances recently. Maybe that's why.

Presenter: well how about them reasons what I just said
Caller: I just don't understand why Wilder's not picked Brooks or Clarke
Presenter: Thanks for calling!

come to think of it i wonder how long it will take some of those wednesday fans to realise they did us a favour by beating leads we stay 3rd cos of their win

Then came Brian the Blade what a self deluded T**t he is. Surely RS should check to see if he has taken his medication before accepting his calls

I don't think some of you get it. P & G (and Football Heaven) rely on cunts like Brian and the endless morons called Mark/Mick. I don't think RS accept their calls - more like they ring these planks to fill the show with controversy (and not a little United-bashing). One last week called us 'pigs' and wasn't pulled up for it. Mark (or was it Mick, or are they same person?) usually starts with 'I've not come on to slag United, but...' and Brian is just a cunt who harks back to his (non-existent) 'glory days'.

Radio Sheffield (and the Stir) appeal to their core audience. Fucking morons.

It was a strange decision to put Brooks and Clarke on the bench and go with Donaldson up front on his own. Most fans were puzzled by this. That's not to say we thought it was necessarily wrong, because we trust Wilder's judgement, but we wanted to know the reasons for it? Tactical? Injuries? Tiredness? Experiment? RS didn't even bother to ask the question - so they got inundated with folks wanting to find out. And of course they couldn't explain it - so they created their own vacuum in terms of that conversation.

As for the moaning gits - I agree it's depressing, but in some cases I have a little bit of empathy. I think a couple of the older guys were moaning because they didn't think a winning team should have been changed. If RS had asked Wilder why the changes were made and reported that, they would have had their answer and maybe there would have been no need for them to phone in complaining about it. I guess we'll never know. I do think that as people get older, especially men, chemical changes in the brain take place which make them more prone to being grumpy - a couple of those callers sounded very senior and I'd cut them some slack for that reason personally.

Which leaves no excuse at all then for the relatively youthful Brian The Blade. To be fair, I find his frequent mood swings and ridiculous observations mildly entertaining at times. I enjoy having a laugh at someone who is making a complete fool of themselves and remain totally aware of it. But he crossed the line for me with that call, contemplating a protest for Wilder to be sacked. As I said on the other thread, Sheffield United should refund his season ticket money and tell him his "support" is no longer required. He should put that money towards seeing a psychologist instead, because he surely needs one.

I listened to Praise and Grumble on RS after the Forrest match and frankly it was embarrassing, listening to all these old farts having a go at Chris Wilder for changing the team and losing. Despite the fact that we played well and could have won on anther day

Not one of them could bring themselves to say anything positive even when the compare tied to prompt them. They seemed to so enjoy complaining, and I remembered why stopped going to the Lane as I always ended up next to one of these ‘want to be miserable pillocks’

Then came Brian the Blade what a self deluded T**t he is. Surely RS should check to see if he has taken his medication before accepting his calls

It a great time to be a Blade

Be happy

Up the Blades

I listened for once and was gobsmacked. Couldn't believe what I was hearing
Ime a bit of an old fart mesen but have a little bit of a football brain. Tha

"Relatively youthful" ? I must be missing something here.

I always remember the words when Wilder joined us.

He said something like

I try to get my players to concentrate on the performance and doing their jobs.
Sometimes you can’t always win, there’s good luck and bad luck but I can assure fans we’ll play positive football
And the players will give 100% leaving it out there on the pitch.

Wilder was saying he can’t gaurantee results but he can gaurantee 100% comitment playing postindustrial entertaining football and he’s kept his word.

That’s all I want, a team consistently turning up, trying to play good positive football and giving 100% commitment EVERY match.

Don’t like losing but yesterday against Forest was a different type of defeat to defeats under other managers.
We turned up again, was positive, outplayed Forest in spells making them look like the away team.
We can’t win every game but we can put in a decent performance and yesterday we were decent again.

Very well said sir.
In the history of the game I don’t believe any side has won every week. You have to drop points sometime.

But what we have is seemingly good form at all times, and have done for about 12 months. We lose, but then get right back to winning again, and it’s that attitude that will mean we will do well no matter what league we are in.
Saturday was one of those days, it didn’t quite drop for us.
It’s a long season, NOBODY is getting carried away, we have a decent side, decent strength in depth and a very good manager and backroom team.
All the hallmarks are there for success. All that needs to be done is carry on the hard work, hope we have the luck with injuries and I’m quietly confident that come May we will be around the top 6 and pushing for promotion.

I think top 2 might be beyond us, but I will be interested to see how this new Sheff United gets on in a play off.

I listened as well , and was shaking me head in disbelief at some of the laughable comments ,
You could understand if we were in Boltons position ,
We have just pasted the pigs , and forever banished the BDM ,
beaten a good wolves team and are 3rd ,
No one ( even me ) thought we would have been so high in La liga .
We are playing some fantastic football , some people really need to Kop on .
You mentioned Bolton
