Yeah, I’ve since read about it. Wanker owners, and another proper ground lost.
You’re the division below the conference now, yes?
It is indeed. I’d forgot how good it was!Scunthorpes Old Show Ground?![]()
Another one going at the end of this season. View attachment 67562

Second photo Bradford Park Avenue. Did we ever play there? Must have been years ago in the cup if we did.Where’s that? Fantastic stand top left!

Been there to watch Alfreton. Night game absolutely freezing.Gives me a nice excuse to post up a few pics of our old girl and reminisce of the good times spent there.... 7 years been gone now
Many a time I went and pondered how the hell the 15k squeezed in when we beat Liverpool but then of course the Blades came and officially the crowd was 17,042 setting the new record attendance but they reckoned it was pushing nearer 20k!!

I think Alfreton were in North East counties when Chris was manager. I was gutted when he went to Halifax. At your place we stood in bar for second half with Aden Flint who had just returned on loan from Swindon. Alfreton won 1-0 Liam Hearn scored. So cold though. I remember a good pub near ground with an indoor skittle alley?Monday nights down 'The Lane' under the lights were good times, yeah would get pretty chilly, and foggy sometimes being right next to the canal lol.
Pretty sure CW managed Alfreton and/or Halifax against us..I know Jamie Vardy scored an equalizer for Halifax around 2007/8.

In line with the OP's incorrect statement... "Grounds we played at once, now gone" - there is only one that fits this criteria that I can think of. I was there that night too.

Never saw us play there but went a fair few times as my mates dad used to get free tickets for city. Amazing stadium/atmosphere, and yeah the kippax seems gigantic when you were a kid.The Kippax was one of the maddest stands in the country and on a side as opposed to being behind a goal like most 'ends' or Kops.
Loved Maine Road right off the curry mile, but never saw us do owt but lose there. Etihad is really soulless in comparison.
I used to go to Feethams with a mate from University who is from Darlo. John Burridge turned out for them in a one off game while he was Newcastle's goalkeeping coach (Darlington having sold their only keeper the week before) and Brian Gayle played for Shrewsbury Town in another game.View attachment 67459View attachment 67461
The Feethams Darlington.
For those that went it was probably the greatest away day ever.
Proper ground and football team.
Note the cricket pitch is still there
talking of shrewsbury....

Used to have a guy in a boat on the Severn to retrieve footballs.
