It should have been at least 6 and we need to start converting more of our chances. That was the difference in midweek - they took their chances and we missed ours. We won't get as many clear cut opportunities from most other teams as we did today and goal difference could also be important. But enjoyed the performance, even though I missed the first 2 goals because the Snake was shut!

I saw Liverpool at Stoke last week , lost 0-1
120 MILLION QUIDS WORTH OF FORWARDS , MISSED AS MANY AS WE DID

look at it we are creating buckets of chances , a positive
instead of the constant streams of negativity
as blades weve got to be a little more up beat, instead of being Jack Dee clones

In this league we can get away with not converting all of the chances but that does mean we will end up with odd Uddersfield result. Its one of the reasons we now find ourselves down here but the more confident our strike force become then I think more chances will be converted.

Its only in the Championship and in the PL that you will get punished regularly for not taking your chances.

i get the impression there is a mini league of slightly bigger clubs in this league.. i think we'll be up there but auto promotion will be decided on how we do against the likes of charlton, huddersfield preston and the s6 massive

Geez. We stuff someone and put in one of our best, most convincing performances and people still moan.

I'm with bendy on this one. I am happy we are creating chances. Plus I think it is hard to bearrate a team that scored 3 and hit the woodwork 3 or 4 times. On another day it could have been 6, 7 or 8.

It would have been nice to bump up our goal difference, get mopre goals scored and send out a message to the smaller/shitter teams in the division (you are going to get hammered when you come to Bramall Lane!) but lets focus on the positives. The most important thing was to bounce back. We did that (and in style) :)

It would be nice to give someone a total spanking, but we are walking the line of still being the "work in progress" and not being too complacent in our own talents.

A bit more thought and energy from the front line would be better, for me. McDonald always looks forward when possible but too often the ball was pushed wide as there was someone (no blame culture here) offside. That said, I was a little troubled that the midfielders don't join in with the shooting practice before the game. I can see Doyle getting amongst the goals this season, but the only time he has been encouraged to join the strikers has been when he was a sub. Similarly McDonald looks capable but seems a tad too much the provider.

I would agree with this. We're playing some great stuff and scoring for fun but the number of chances that we're not putting away is quite worrying. I was actually quite disappointed yesterday that we only won 3-0 cause it should have been a lot more.

trouble is ,if we spank someone 6 or 7 ,certain people will moan when we only win 4-0 the game after

lets build it up nicely and not set ourselves up for a fall, another 25 3-0 wins between now and april will do fine

I don't expect us to win 3 or 4 nil every week but there again I don't expect us to get as many chances as we did yesterday. Huddersfield scored 3 out of 8 chances, we scored none. The point I was trying to make is that we need to convert more of the chances that we make because we won't get that many chances in the games against the better teams. I would add that the way to get out of this division is to have 2 players who score for fun - ours create a lot but don't convert enough.

Have youseen man utd chelsea today

now theres some missed chances, I counted 7 Id expect a 13 year old to score
so dont go thinking we are the only team to miss opportunities

I do think that 3 goals from what I think is attributed as 11 shots on target is not too bad in terms of a strike rate. It shows constant attacking at least. The 12 shots off target on top of this troubles me more. Especially when you make that 3 goals out of 23 attempts. With so many shots on goal we need to be getting 1 in 5, if not better. Attempts on goal that don't even test the keeper could end up costing us.

I think it is more important that we are creating chances rather than not being clinical enough. We have creativity in abundance and it is great we are carving teams open and making chances. Wilson will know that finishing has not been good enough and work on it. It is much more easily fixed than not creating chances. He can have the team practicing shooting, one on one's, headers from crosses etc in training and increase the chance of rectifying our goals to chances ratio.

Personally I thuink we have been a bit unlucky. It is not very often that you hit the bar 3 times in a game and get nothing from it. If we keep creating chances like this then some of the shots will creep inside the post, hit the bar and go in etc.

What he said! We will stuff someone 7 & 8 if we keep creating chances. Our forwards are good enough at this level. We just shouldn't go expecting it week in, week out. As Ollie says, you stick 3 past a team and hit the woodwork several times, you really should go away happy.

Why doesn't McCabe spend £50 million on a striker? Such a player would never miss an open goal...

It makes Porter look like a bargain!

I just think that we could do with a bit more precision from our midfield. Quinn aside, they aren't really testing the keeper and snagging the odd goal from there can make all the difference. I guess of the 12 that were off target that it will include the 3 hitting the woodwork.

So far Monty, Willo, NML and McAllister have all scored from midfield. (Tonne also depending on which position you see him in.) So we are snagging the odd goal from there, the plus is Lowton and Harry have also added to the goals. I happy that goals are coming from other positions, but we do need this to continue.

Is the exclamation mark to show shock Baldesway??! ;) Agreeing more and more these days!? Next thing we'll be meeting for a couple of jugs of real ale before the game

when you consider we never looked like scoring last year then yes the opposition is poorer but it's a definite improvement

That's the reason we lost to Huddersfield. Didn't take our chance, they took theirs.

I'm only scared of the following teams:

Charlton
MK Dons
Pigs
Huddersfield

and Preston (Away)

All other games are games we should be winning. We've played one of those teams and lost. We've got 3 of them coming up next month all at home. We've got to get 7 points from them.

The difference between play offs and automatic is beating the teams listed above. Last season we needed to beat the likes of Scunthorpe, Preston, Doncaster, Derby and Middlesborough. Losing to them cost us our status in the league.

You have to beat the teams around you
