Yeah they also seemed angry through the game. Seems that the ref got that one wrong then. The kop had a very clear view of the backpass and reacted instantly with one voice

It got a touch off the end of the United players boot. Clear to see from the South Stand. Correct decision. The kop had a very clear view of the backpass and reacted instantly with one voice
I'm coming to the opinion that there is just no prospect of getting simulation out of the game by relying on refs to give yellows in real time.Having watched that incident back, I can see why Hamer was booked because it was a wild challenge - BUT why was the Sunderland player laid out , holding his ankle when he hadn't been touched - why did the Ref not book Hamer straightaway and didn't the Ref see the Sunderland player leap to his feet after the booking - yet another case where there should be retrospective punishment
So their player passed it back to his goalie but because it got an ineffectual touch off our lads boot , it's not a backpass ? Didn't realise. It got a touch off the end of the United players boot. Clear to see from the South Stand. Correct decision.
Nothing like a good bit of anger to get the kop making some noise !Yeah they also seemed angry through the game
Yep. Thems de rules. So their player passed it back to his goalie but because it got an ineffectual touch off our lads boot , it's not a backpass ? Didn't realise.
It felt the right mix to me. Tough opposition, united playing well., some dicey decisions, pen save etc etc. some anger at the right times, rest was very upbeat.Yeah they also seemed angry through the game. Seems that the ref got that one wrong then.
I would have preferred it if VAR hadn't spent lots of time drawing lines to show a toenail was offside when I think they could have put their time to better use by identifying cheating - it could have been done retrospectively. So the only hope is retrospective watching of the games but that takes huge resources.
To cut down on the amount of footage for review , maybe clubs could be invited to submit details of one or two of the worst examples - perhaps only in the penalty area , at first - and these could be shown to refs to encourage them to take action in future
I think it was the first time in my life I have ever heard commentators on Sky actually say that a referee had got 3/4 decisions wrong and we should have felt hard done by.....Well that ref v WBA didn’t like Rak Sakyi, did he.
Booked him for diving when, if anything, it was a strong shove by their player, the shirt pull on him went unnoticed / unpunished
Away from Rak Sakyi, he gave them the drop ball when it should’ve been for us, pulled back our throw for taking from the wrong place, but didn’t punish their player for the same. Didn’t book their player for kicking the ball away…
Did I miss any others?
Worth pointing out that he wasn’t really biased as he was shite for both sides but we seemed to be on the end of more in key areasI think it was the first time in my life I have ever heard commentators on Sky actually say that a referee had got 3/4 decisions wrong and we should have felt hard done by.....
Yeah I just dont recall ever hearing commentators commenting on how bad a ref was and how a specific team can feel like they should have had more decisions.Worth pointing out that he wasn’t really biased as he was shite for both sides but we seemed to be on the end of more in key areas
Yeah radio Sheff had an issue with him continuously stopping players to talk to players. Just didn’t seem to get much rightYeah I just dont recall ever hearing commentators commenting on how bad a ref was and how a specific team can feel like they should have had more decisions.
Yes I think we can all agree that his former name was more appropriate - Richard Head. Understand why he changed it.Yeah radio Sheff had an issue with him continuously stopping players to talk to players. Just didn’t seem to get much right
Another player threw ball away got away with it, let them have a free kick what was in the D and they pulled it 3 yards back and he allowed it. Booked hamer for a shoulder barge, couple of their players dove and no bookings.Well that ref v WBA didn’t like Rak Sakyi, did he.

Did he get the drop ball wrong? It was the WBA player that kicked the ball that hit the ref. At this point he has to stop the game and and give the ball to the team that was in control of it, which was technically WBA. That the ball landed at our player’s feet is irrelevant, as the ball is dead from the point of impact on the refWell that ref v WBA didn’t like Rak Sakyi, did he.

It was their player that touched it last although it was a heavy touch that was going to allow us to break on them. Unfortunate but correct decision. It was our player that hit it against the ref wasn’t it?

Fair enough, didn't see the replay, just thought it came off our player when it bounced awayDefinitely came from their player, so the decision was correct by the interpretation of the rules. It's a daft rule though.
