Great full back and winger pairings

They really are a joy to watch. You can mark a good winger out of the game and negate an overlapping full back, but a pairing like these two, with an understanding that comes from having developed through the ranks together, is incredibly difficult to play against.

Cue that deadline day kick in the guts to ruin it all.

This has bid from Spurs written all over it

I think I just have a strange nostalgia for this era, but Murphy and Harris combined well, with Murphy playing narrow leaving Harris in space, with Brayford and Flynn also complementing each other well. Flynn defensively alert if not dynamite going forwards, which Brayford made up for with his attacking energy and end product.

Burrows and Hamer last season potentially in for a shout, lots of clever one-twos and rotation with O'Hare joining in, Gus constantly getting Burrows in behind to cross.

Yet Wilder was reluctant to praise either of them post match and opted to praise Gus. ☹️ 🤷‍♂️
Bizarre comments from Wilder, he deflected the question, praised Hamer specifically then 2 Millwall players before giving Brooks and Seriki some praise through gritted teeth, then said that their end product wasn’t good enough 🤷🏻‍♂️

Either he’s a man management genius and they both despise praise for a good performance and love being called out for a poor one, or he doesn’t like them.

I keep wanting to believe there isn't an issue but Wilder is really making it difficult to think that.

Our right side is usually good over the years. Left hand side however not had many joy apart form O’Connell and Steven’s (I know it’s not the same)

At the moment Brooks is top end Championship player but needs to up that level to be a Premier League player. He works hard for the team and would certainly be one of the first names on the teamsheet. Seriki’s passing was poor first half but he puts a lot of high energy runs in to support down the right hand side. Combined they make a very dynamic duo down the right hand side. Long may it continue

Was Wilder who started walking off the pitch with his arm round Brookes.

Whilst I am no Wilder fan, if Brookes didn't want to play for the manager, he wouldn't be running himself into the ground for the tram(same with Sereki). Brookes in particular was almost out on his feet for the last 10 mins but he kept going

The pair have really upped their levels & they work incredibly well together - likely to continue to grow and improve. If we do nothing this January, get the pair on longer contracts!
The worrying thing is, I don't think there's any way we get Seriki, Brooks or Peck to sign new deals 😔
Did Jordan Stewart and Andy Taylor ever play down the left together? Dream combo there in anyone’s book if they did.
Marcus Williams and Matt Hill as a left hand side away to Notts County in L1. That was...something.

With them being academy lads and with Brooks in particular being a boyhood fan, I'm sure they'd sign deals as long as they had favourable release clauses included

The prospect of another season in the Champ with fully fit and flying Blaster, Brooks, Peck and Siriki, all physically approaching their peak. COH finding the half spaces and linking to the forwards. Teams will be terrified. Gotta tie them all down and protect ourselves for when the inevitable bids come in.

Different going on but back in 1997/8 ish Vas Borbokis and Wayne Quinn were quality as a wing back pair. Obviously didn’t have wide players in front of them due to the set up but they were outstanding on their day.

Shame we didn’t get to see them longer term, that was back in the dark days of selling to the lowest bidder at the earliest opportunity.

Deane and fjortoft mark 2

Brookes has been steadily improving. He's always had the skill and he is now, as you noted, upping his work rate and all round game application.

Long may it continue in a Blades shirt.

This is getting tedious.
Who knows what gets said in the dressing room - certainly none of us. What we can all see, however, is the clear fact that both Brooks and Seriki are hugely motivated, and are giving it all that they’ve got. Credit to them for that, and credit also to Wilder for the very high levels of motivation and togetherness that we’re currently seeing from them, and pretty much throughout the team.

It's not something we've had a lot of in my time. Of course many years we've played 3 at the back too.

Always felt Lowton and Williamson were a decent pairing under Danny Wilson.

Have we had any midfielders score more in a season since Lee Williamson (13 or 14)?

I don't think so, but someone will correct me, if wrong.

Wilder is right behind them he's not going over the top with them( fans can do that ) he wants them to keep there heads down and continue to keep developing.
If we are to acheav anything this season! They will play a big part.!

Agree with all of that, they’re working really well together. When Seriki gets to the byline, I’d like to see him look up and vary his crossing a bit. There was one occasion yesterday where he hit his cross with pace to the near post and the ball was blocked. A chip across to Cannon in the middle of the goal, who had a bit of space (from memory) might have been more effective.
