Grealish says we're the best

I'm confused. Who do you support?

Your name suggests blades. Your profile suggests blades. But you refer to us as "you/your".

I was rescued from a life of hell by his Old Man so out of loyalty I'm a Clough fan first and foremost but whichever club he is at I fully immerse myself into them and want nothing but the best to happen. Even though he left for me personally it was a massive pleasure to support a "proper" club like yours for 18 months.

Coming to Bramall Lane gave me goosebumps.

I realise that makes me a bit of a weirdo and someone who "proper" fans struggle to relate to.

I pop back on every now and then to say well done, I made some nice acquaintances on here despite being massively abused by people like Sean. I've loved watching you get back to where you deserve to be and I'm 100% honest when I say I didn't expect it to happen so quickly.

The fact you've done it with Chris Wilder in charge makes it more special and makes me forget how much I didn't like your owner ;-)

Hope 1000's of you boys take over the Pirelli in the summer, we need the money more than you do ;-)

Just seen Grealishs interview. He came across really well. Spoke well and had some properly bashed up boots on that he called his lucky boots.
Hugged Wilder and you can hear him say we were best team they played.

Gone up in my estimations in that interview.

I said a couple of weeks ago.cut out the rolling around and he'd be like Gazza. Fantastic talent.

Good on you lad, nice of you to come back and get involved.

well you hope so we torn them apart twice. 4-0 til we conceded 1 & 3-0 then fell apart

Nice story. And judging by the Bridgford part of your name, I guess Clough being at Burton works well for you.

Always good to hear stories like this. I'm a blade because my dad's a blade. That's my story 😂

I'm just glad he's got a job to be honest ;-) I'd probably move to be close enough to wherever his next job would be, I'm THAT sad.

I love the lads who follow their dads, that's what I mean by proper fans. Generation to generation is the way it should be.

Unfortunately my dad was a Geordie so the chances of that happening to me were slim to none ;-)

Ahh! I remember you from Bladesmad..
Nice to see you are still keeping an eye on the Blades.
I recall you telling us what a good player we had acquired when we got Paul Coutts from Derby, despite 90% of Blades writing him off after a handful of games.
I was always in the 10% BTW

Thanks for that pal. It's nice that someone remembers my football views are usually pretty spot on. I had a very decent teacher ;-)

Great to see the likes of Coutts, the Bash and to a lesser extent Freeman have played their part as well.

I've been blown away by the quality of signings and with the style CW has you playing. I had some great memories in my short time as a Blade and for that I'll love you forever.
You can't be my number one club of course but I don't forget good times. Singing the GCB song with a lovely hot mince pie in my hands was pure class. Everyone should experience that at least once in their lives.

If they lose Grealish and Chelsea keep Tammy Abraham, they’d be weaker than this season before any recruitment...we’re stronger than them as it stands - but the key is the summer transfer dealings
I was in the camp 'Villa won't be relegated next year' but they had 4 loans on the pitch today and Mings was replaced by a fifth, bearing in mind they can only have 2 loans next season they have to sign 2 players just to be at the point they are today. I can see them doing this but I still see them in the relegation scrap.

I rate McGinn as well, although think he benefits from Grealish creating a lot of space for him and the rest of the Villa midfield.

And to think 5 years ago this week we were on the brink of getting McGinn for £100,000.
Clough was bringing him in the same time as McNulty, but the deal stalled, and Hibs nipped in.

Worth a bit more than that now!

I thought the same. He comes across as a really likeable, down to earth fella. I liked his comments about how he thought he was off last summer and how he was happy to stay. From the way he spoke, it seems that he didn't really want to leave the club he supports.

Not exactly sure of when he got the captaincy, but i understand that since then Villa have turned it around. Seems like they could have their own Billy Sharp on their hands.

He wasn't really going to ground yesterday, he looked class in the first leg v WBA and has manned up a bit with the incident v Birmingham being one example when he scored after it.

I loved the thing with his boots, although leather would last much, much longer. Would love to see him in a pair of Adidas World Cup's or Puma Kings as i think they'd enhance his game.

But what i loved the most was the way he hugged Wilder. Proper respect shown there, I am guessing that he wasn't aware of Wilders earlier comments about trying to foul him.

I reckon he'd be class under Wilder, but no chance we'd get near him now Villa are up.

I'll tell you what lads and lasses. Your gaffer comes across as an absolute brilliant bloke. You can really see why his players want to Play for him.
I've liked him for years since he was at non league level and good mates with my man Nigel.

I'd not really paid that much attention to his personality though. He's someone I'd love to have as my boss. Funny, funny bloke, clearly knows what he's talking about.

I believe he couldn't get the money men to push the signing through.

Thanks for the kind words. Although I'm not sure NC respected the 'money men' that much with some of his deals.

This is where I get myself in trouble. I could just stay quiet, acknowledge your post and carry on eating my sugar puffs but... :)

I think the money you got for Che Adams, Jamie Murphy and the genius that was (and still is) Harry Maguire more than made up for what he "wasted" and my own (biased) view is that he generated a lot of what he spent through the 2 semi final cup runs.

When you think he got Coutts and Freeman for a combined 236k as well, not too shabby.

Yes he made some shockers, whoever signed off on Higdon wants their heads looking at.

Anyhow, what I won't deny is the signings Wilder has made have been a clear step up and I don't want to row anymore. You've got a great manager in charge and I'm enjoying watching Burton playing some decent stuff.

Happy days all around ;-)

UTB

****** little edit to stop anyone coming back with a daft insult***** At the time of course I was gutted and thought McCabe was a clown, fast forward 3 seasons and even I'd have to be totally mad to say he made the wrong decision. I'm not blowing smoke up your arses when I say CW has literally shown sign of not just being a good manager but of being a genius manager. I watched your player award night celebrations and you don't build that kind of team spirit unless you've got a real touch of class as a man manager. The bloke is brilliant.
