Smokescreen. We are being linked with anyone who has a pulse at the moment. Agents trying to get their players deals so they can line their pockets. Standard fair when a club is taken over

God, news to make your heart sink. Mediocre at best, at this level, and a shithouse to boot.

However, as back-up to a back-up he might do us for the rest of the season, if needed on occasion, in most games. It’s a numbers game for us now, on one level, as regards the thinness of the squad.

Widler also repeatedly refers to the relative inexperience of a young bunch of players. As deep cover for a bad run of defensive injuries/suspensions, Hanley would help with that.

I do hope that we have someone a bit better lined up.

It might be that Hanley is just one option lower down a longer list of preferred targets.

If he is only going to be the backup to backup the backup and backup their backup then maybe...

Definitely hope this is just bullshit.

We need to be bringing in a first choice centre back, someone like Darling. whose career is on the up.
Then have Robbo as backup.

FFS. We need continually to improve the first team, not back it up with players who ‘can do a job’.

He only has 6 months left. If we were to sign him as cover for 6 months it might not be the worst move. He definitely ticks the experience box.

Surely successful teams do a bit of both?

I don't think the club can be accused of not trying to improve the first team in recent years, and we have also seen a number of successful cover signings, that have helped us to reach targets. Hanson, O'Shea, Dowell, Craney, Besic, Jagielka, B.Davies.... are all ones who spring to mind.

I'd see him as an experienced head to come in for 6 months and help out, cover a similar role as Jake Wright did.

Remember when you were a kid and you pestered your mum and dad for a certain toy or pair of trainers or whatever for christmas and they'd keep telling you they weren't made of money? Then come christmas they hint thye might have got you them after all but just as you're unwrapping, they say the fatal line "bloke down the market said this is exactly the same as the ones in the shops"?

This is the transfer equivalent.

I don’t comment on rumours as I don’t pay much attention to other teams players.

But this guy stands out as every time I’ve seen him play I’ve thought how shit he is.

I remember my Toys R Us fake Transformer which I was too embarrassed about to show to any friends.

Whilst I’m sure nobody is jumping for joy at the thought of signing Hanley.

With Souttar out we have no depth at centreback. You’d be shift gilchrist and we don’t have another fit right back.

Robbo is fine at this level if you accept he’s going to cost you 3 points once every 5/6 games with an error. So I’d be looking at 2 coming in with Hanley being an option if he’s happy to sit on the bench for 6 months. And break in case of emergency/ suspension

We don't need another " bombscare "

He'll be on big wages, so will be an expensive loan. Sounds like a very bad idea to me

A friend of mine who supports Norwich has always said he's solid and a decent championship defender. He's a leader as well. But he still wouldn't be my first choice defender to come in but maybe this is budget related and Wilder has to spend elsewhere in the team and he's relying on Anel and Robbo as first choice.

That looks like a car crash 🤣

The only thing Grant Hanley will bring to the team is to make Robbo look pure Maldini

Kin useless, slow and seems to drop a bollock every game

Would rather have Russell grant, at least he’d know what going to happen

Anel and Robbo?!

Well okay, fair point but if they're a car crash, Grant Hanley is like that pileup at the end of Con Air involving a prisoner transport plane on the Las Vegas strip.

Hyperbole aside, he isn't a great answer to our defensive issues. To have Souttar the first half of the season and Hanley for the second is thoroughly depressing..
