Player Suggestion Graham Carey

I prefer him to Holmes and believe that he is the alternative as charlton have priced Holmes out of the move.
Carey on a free or Holmes at in excess of £500k it's a no brainier

Still plenty of noises from the Plymouth end about it.

Can't see us giving up on Holmes already, especially if he's rejected Charlton's contract offer.

If we intend to sign both then that would be 3 attacking midfielders signed with no ideal option for the right hand side.

Holmes, Carey, Duffy and Carruthers for the number 10 position would be pushing it a bit. Even if they can play other positions too. What if we play 3-5-2 all the time?

Highlight reels are great, but kinda meaningless. I watched one yesterday of a 12 year old tearing it up. Would he be a good fit? Obviously not, it's about context. L2 to the camp is a big step, but on that evidence, he could be fantastic. And that's the trouble, there's hardly going to be a bloopers reel out there... So how do you know? The only option WE have is to trust in Wilder ;)

EEL should have a "montage", anything to make him look good would be a plus.

Have to say, he has a lovely left peg on him.

Could be another classic Wilder signing.

If a right-sided player is needed (I'm not sure it is if CW plans to stick with the same formation), Duffy may well be earmarked - he has spent most of his career playing there. If CW persists with 5 in mid, Freeman and Baldock will be the obvious options.

Agree about overloading the 10 position though - while both are obviously very decent players (and a huge upgrade on JO'S), I wouldn't have thought both Carey and Holmes would be needed.

Duffy on the wing in the Championship is a non starter IMO. I think Carruthers is our most likely current option.

I really like the idea of Carey on a free, I'm just not sure him and Holmes are the most compatible pair of signings - a RW/CF would go better with Holmes. But I'd certainly rather have Holmes and Carey than just Holmes. Maybe we wouldn't have a natural option on the right, but Thomas and Carey could probably play there occasionally. And Carey's a good player to watch.

It could just be a problem if we play 3-5-2 all the time. Maybe one solution would be to play Holmes and Carey supporting one centre forward. It's not like either of them are goal shy. And TBH it's not like we have many convincing centre forwards.

He's certainly in the news today...

Would be nice to have a quality set piece taker as well. I think Ben Davies was the last player I expected to really work the keeper with a free kick on the edge of the box.

Certainly not shy to have a shot from range - something we could say we didn't do all that often last year.

Looks like he puts himself around abit from those clips too, so can see why wilder might be interested - not a bad age too.

Tempting on a free transfer. Has there been any other reported interest?

More bargain basement proving CW has to find magic signings cause he ain't got a barel of money

I like the look of this fella
Accurate shots from 25 or 30 yards are always welcome

He might not get as much space to do it in the Championship and the goalkeepers might be better but fans scream at Fleck and Coutts to shoot because we all know they can hit a ball but more often than not they are reluctant to do so

This guy just seems to let fly whenever he's got a yard of space

I see the Yorkshire (Dirty Leeds) had some news on this but then didn't say where they believed we were interested and I can't see another article on it. Regardless I hope we get Carey. Yes its a gamble but he's the type we need - someone who can do something out of nothing.

Many of our fans scream for a shot when the player in question is stationary, off balance, on the back foot or surrounded by an impenetrable wall of opposition flesh and muscle. On those occasions said player is reluctant to shoot because he has multiple brain cells, unlike the screaming hordes.

Either that or 'gerrit int box'

Yes, very true
And sometimes they don't encounter all those problems but they see a pass that may be on instead

And sometimes those problems do exist and the pass is not on either so they have to go backwards

And sometimes the pass is not on, the shot is not on and the backless is not on either

I think that's just about covered the obvious scenarios

And when the shot lands in the blut that player is a useless prick who should have waited and passed.
