I'd prefer to wait and see him play a few times before jumping to any conclusions.
I do realise that this may be an outdated mode of thinking.

I'm confused about the "no more strikers" business.
We've got 5 strikers on the books at the minute...
Beattie - Class, always looks like scoring.
Sharp - Hasn't scored a goal and has missed some good chances.
Shelton - Never going to be good enough.
Hulse - Missing too many chances, can't blame match fitness now.
Stead - Arguably the best striker we have, his movement, first touch, and finishing are all impressive.
So from that, I would say bringing in another striker is needed, I hope he can do well and bag a few goals for us because Inter don't seem to want to get rid of him.

Whilst I agree with your assessment of Shelton, I have to take exception on your overall point here.
First of all, to suggest that a player can be back to full match fitness in a single month following a double leg fracture and a 6 month lay-off is a very naïve. Rob Hulse has done fantastically well to return to first team action so quickly but I would suggest that it will be another couple of months before he is fully match fit. I agree he has missed a lot of chances lately and not looked the player from last season but you have to give him the benefit of the doubt and I am confident that he will start firing on all cylinders for the run in.
Sharp has scored a lot of goals at league 1 level and whilst the goals haven’t come this season, I would argue that his clear cut chances can be counted on a single hand. It is frustrating that he hasn’t scored but I still believe he can be a success and until he starts missing 4 or 5 chances a game I refuse to change my opinion.
Stead is an all round solid player and should have played more this season, he never lets us down and I’m hopeful he will get a run in the side.
Beatties goal record speaks for itself, especially when you consider the fact that we are creating very little and confidence is on the floor.
Webber is more then capable at this level.
So, whilst the strikers are not scoring at this moment in time; I put it to you that this is not down to a lack of ability but has more to do with the lack of chances and confidence that is effecting the team this season. I would also suggest that ANY striker would struggle to score goals for us with the way we are playing at the moment.
We have 5 players that are each capable of scoring 15 goals at this level and so bringing in another one, when our midfield continues to under-perform, is very disappointing in my eyes.
I agree that Hulse has done very well to get back to where he is now, but surely if he's not match fit yet he shouldn't be playing? After all, if he's not going to be ready for another 2 months then another striking option is the answer until we can be sure Hulse is back to being 100%. He needed more time in the reserves in my opinion, or even just easing him back in with sub appearances rather than continuous starts like he has had lately. Reading back I can understand what I said sounded harsher on him than it was meant to be.
Sharp has scored alot in lower level, but to me the way he's being asked to play for us he is out of his depth. He's a box player, but he's not being used that way and when he does get a chance they are not the type of chances he thrives on, but another striker with different abilities could probably have taken them, ie. Stead. Again, I can see it does seem quite harsh what I said, I didn't really go into enough detail as to what I meant. I do have the belief he can do well for us but until he is used correctly I can't see him scoring.
I do think we needed another midfielder aswell, so I am disappointed not to see one arriving but I've no complaints at signing a striker at this precise moment when we have alot of players that are unfit or out of form. It also gives the players out of form another incentive to get back and prove themselves to the manager aswell.
Hopefully, we will use the loan system to bring in a creative midfielder in the next few weeks because there's no doubt we're crying out for one, but only time will tell.
Crikey, didn't realise it was set to become permanent! Good work Mr Robson
Looking forward to seeing this kid play, although no doubt some fans will get on his back if he doesn't score a hat-trick on his debut
I also question the logic of the inter manager letting a player go for nothing that has the potential to become the best player in the world; sounds like spin to me.
Completely agree to be honest.
I am however not disputing he has potential as I don't know the type of player he is. But it would seem rather foolish allowing him to go for a nominal loan fee and free transfer if he is going to be the worlds best.
I'm not having his name put on me shirt! It'll cost an arm and a leg.
It probably won't fit on my shirt
Last season i wanted Montgomery on my shirt but it wouldn't fit so i had Monty put on it instead![]()

It's not that it wouldn't fit, it's that we know you'd rather spend the money down the pub....:drunk:![]()
