So who do we think we will be seeing in a blades shirt/on the walk round lap at BDTBL for the last time, when we play Preston?

When it comes to our better players, I always wish we knew who was leaving, so we could really give it our all in appreciation, but we rarely do

Probably:
Billy
Bash
Enda
JoC
Fleck

Maybe:
McAtee
Doyle
Ndiaye
Berge

That’s huge really 😫

Basham is here until 2024.

I can imagine Enda, JOC and Fleck being off. We won't be able to offer deals that represent their playing time that would be acceptable to them and of course Jack will have to likely accept moving to his next venture.

Billy I can imagine getting a year. We may want 6 strikers in a squad of 25. He may be striker no 6. Better to rely on him as an experienced player with knowhow than have a young guy like Osula sat there gathering dust when he can be growing experience on loan. So I see him playing that role.

I doubt we'd see Ndiaye or Berge go this summer if we go up.

The others will be determined by her loan strategy.

Better we add quality than have to spend a fortune on agent fees for third or fourth choice players.

If Billy stays another year I think it will be in a player/coach capacity. As he has admitted he is looking at the coaching side of the game now.

He just wants to bag that 250th league goal first. 😄

Sadly, that miracle comeback of JOC didn't happen in January and the local press are not even asking questions about him anymore. So I expect he will be leaving along with Enda and Fleck.

I think it's very likely Berge will be sold this summer. I believe he only has 1 year left on his contract and he's not going to re-sign so best to get some money for him rather than him leave for nowt like Lunny.

Maybe that is what we'd like to do, but we haven't really come close to takers. Not sure if our chances increase at all if he has one eye on a decent signing on fee in a year.

All players require wages! Therefore every player we retain stops us using that money for somebody else's recruitment.
Forget Sharp as an option in any capacity as he's done as a player and has no experience or credentials as a coach.
We need a minimum of 7 First Team starting players if we go up and need as much money as possible to recruit the right calibre.
Any sentiment on retaining the wrong people could be very very expensive long term.

I believe Billy has got to a certain level with his coaching bagdes

...that leaves another 18 to make up the squad. I doubt we can find and sign that many who are better than what we have.

I’d agree with that. I can seen Doyle and McAtee coming back on loans again, perhaps permanent for Doyle.

If we go up I expect there will be some kind of event in the city which will allow us to show our appreciation for all the players who have played a part in this fantastic season, including those who are out of contract..

Traditionally it's an open-top bus parade from the Lane to the Town Hall, with all the players and staff appearing on the balcony.

If we offered him a one year extension with a 50% pay rise whilst in the Premier League with a relegation release clause, you would think everyone would be happy

Pay rise for what?? He’s done nowt, if he can’t look good in the championship he ain’t gonna look good in the Prem regardless of excuse number 13 ‘you get harried too much in the championship he’ll have more time on the ball in the prem’ or excuse 26 ‘he needs better players around him’ 🤦‍♂️ I wouldn’t be happy no, he offers little to us hope we sell him.

Hopefully, they’ll all be reunited on the open top bus.

It's a fucking good job you're not on the board. You'd rather sell him for cents on the dollar now (and require us to acquire three starting central midfielders rather than two), or let him walk for nothing at the end of next season, rather than use less than a million to keep a key first team player happy and retain more than that in resale value at the end of 2023/4? Jesus christ. I'm sorry that he doesn't fit your "box to box scoring 15 a season assisting with 10 more making every single tackle" fantasy land player that you think you can get for what we paid for Berge
