They've got a real hatred for us, which i find a bit strange. I always thought Leeds were the Millwall of the north but that lot over the road from you are running them close.

I should really hate Charlton as my Dad was a Crystal Palace supporter but i seem to have developed a soft spot for them.

When we played them in the 6th round i found them to generally be decent football supporters who showed a lot of dignity in defeat. About an hour before the match i bumped in to one of the London driver managers from our place who is a sound bloke, and is a proper football fan who has supported Charlton for years and had a good chat with him and he said if we won he wished us well.

I also think Charlton is one of my favourite away days going. There are a couple of decent boozers nearby and the home supporters are generally a decent and knowledgable bunch. I was involved in an incident after the 5-2 down there a few years ago. I was walking out of the match towards Charlton station, and was talking to one of their older fans on the way out, who was moaning and telling me how bad it was. A bloke my age took offence, pushed me, offered me out and accused me of taking the piss. Another one of their fans told him to calm down and the police came over. I told the coppers that the tensions were running high with this bloke and asked them not to arrest him, as he was obviously upset his team had lost and i would be more than happy if he shook hands and we all moved on. Saw the same bloke 10 minutes later on Charlton station and he came up and apologised again, and we ended up talking football on the train back to London Bridge.
