True good luck to him he certainly needs to gain more experience first before rushing into management. It is one thing to be a good captain on the pitch but it doesn't always mean you can be a good manager.

I made no secret of the fact that I was disappointed when Weir was appointed and I thought it was a very poor decision, but that's not to say I wanted it to be so.

It is sad that it hasn't worked out and good luck to him, but my primary concern now is what we do to reverse the mess he's left us in.

Once again, this is the biggest managerial appointment in the club's recent history. For Christ's sake, please let us get this one right.

Now is not the time to gamble.

Aye, don't wish him any ill whatsoever, and I hope he succeeds in his career eventually. It just didn't work.

Best of luck Davie!

He made abit of a mess of it didnt he?

I suspect he may not have been aware of just how big the challenge was.

His first mistake was putting Doyle back as captain & not getting rid of the (alleged) dressing room trouble makers.
His second thinking that we could play like Barcelona in League 1 with league 1 players.
His final mistake being totally un willing (& by then too late) to change tactics.

Yeah, good luck to the guy, it just didn't work but I do hope he has good luck elsewhere in the future

All best wishes to David. His heart is absolutely in the right place.

Good luck with the rest of your career mate. I hope and expect you'll be back, stronger and wiser for the experience.

These two combined.

Oh yes, of course, its all Doyle's fault innit!
Lets see who the unlucky fucker who gets the job appoints as captain and anchor in midfield shall we.

Good luck DW.

I hope the trauma of managing Sheffield United, a club that must have some sort of curse on it at the present time, hasn't left you permanently scarred, and that you can resurrect your career elsewhere.

I am gutted that your attempts to finally rid us of the dreaded hoof merchants tag throughout the footballing world has failed.

any manager worth his salt will bring a captain in as his first action

See an earlier post of mine on this Sheff, this captain lark really is an overplayed record, he tosses a coin and has his photo took, the rest is really and truly irrelevant.

So am I mate, but let's not throw the baby out with the bath water. DW's attempt may have failed but the objective is absolutely right and must be maintained. The reasons for change are more valid then ever. We have the chance of a lifetime with HRH on board. The windfall must not be wasted on anti-football. I'm quite sure the Prince will want a footballing man and a 'name'.

Maybe its also time to look abroad?

Wrong club wrong time
Good Luck to DW shame it didnt work out, hopefully it will work somewhere else for him

He was fortunate to get the job. He had a great opportunity to make his mark. He was allowed to bring players in.
He obviously talked the talk but, when it came to walking the walk, he stumbled along, tripped himself up with his intransigency and inability to change mid game, and eventually left those in charge with no option but to push him onto his sword.

He should take a long look in the mirror and ask himself if he was right to try revolution rather than evolution.Ask himself if the cut & thrust of garnering points is for him as opposed to developing youth players.

All those telling us he will go onto better things may well be right but, on the evidence we have seen, it will be more of a surprise than an expectation.

He may well be a nice man but the plain, incontrovertible evidence is that he was not up to the challenge of his first appointment.

Good luck but no thanks for what you did at SUFC

Eh up Chris lad, looks like your ability to string a sentence together is as good as your pseudonyms goalkeeping ability ;)
oh dear - if required sentences, paragraphs and even contract clauses are a distinct possibility, however, your inane statement deserved nothing better than an incorrectly spelt one word answer.

I'm disappointed. I genuinely thought he would be a real star manager for us so it's a big shame it didn't. His error was trying to change the playing ethos too quickly. Instead of slowly heating up the bath water he dropped the players into a scalding bath.

Now I want a bath.
