1-0: Derby throws it into our box, Monty heads it clear, but the ball falls nicely to Savage, who smashes it in from 25 yards.

Monty is unchallenged when he makes his header, and should not have put the ball into a dangerous area. Bunn gets a hand on the shot, but can't keep it out. I think he'll be a bit disappointed that it's gone in. It was very well struck though, and there were plenty of bodies that may have blocked his vision.

Did it look unstoppable from the stands?

From the Kop-end of the South Stand, the general view around me was that it had gone through a ruck of bodies (just out of picture) before getting to Bunn which would have disturbed him and forced him to react to summat he saw late. It'd be harsh to blame Bunn IMO as he followed up with 3/4 vital saves (not world class but decent) to keep us in the game. I would have him as man of the match by a mile.

I'd just said to SBSP, "why are there three players marking that bloke at the front post when Savage is there in acres of space" whe lo and behold, the ball breaks to him... 1-0

Do we practice set pieces in training because we're shit at taking them and crap at defending them. If only there was a situation in a match where one bloke was in the middle and the other 6 passed it around him while he runs around aimlessly like we practice at half time. Oh wait, that usually happens in the match with Monty in the middle.

Bunn had been injured from the second minute and he was limping around throughout his time on the pitch. The injury may have affected his attempted save.

Blame has to lie with Monty IMO. Awful header. under no pressure, with lots of time he sends a ten bob, powder puff of a header straight into the path of Savage.

I'm not a Monty knocker, but how many times has he given away vital goals this season? He's given away 2 penalties (in games that we have failed to win) and I remember him being at fault for at least 3 goals.

People may get on my back for this comment, saying he adds value to the team defensively. He always worked very hard and often breaks up a lot of opposition attacks. But how many times is he going to make these 'uncharacteristic' mistakes. And does being at fault for at least 5 goals so far this season, mean we can call them uncharacteristic mistakes?

Unfortunately that's what you get with parks players.
