We seem to have started to score from outside the box much more regularly in the past few weeks 4 games in a row now, when was the last time we scored from outside box 4 games in a row and have we ever done 5 ( or more?)

Yeah I was thinking the same but I can't recall a run of 4 in a row, I remember Mike lake getting a couple in consecutive games many years agoIf anything it’ll be Michael Brown in 2002/03….scored some belters!
Mike Lake away at Forest? Seem to recall a belter.Yeah I was thinking the same but I can't recall a run of 4 in a row, I remember Mike lake getting a couple in consecutive games many years ago

He scored a great one at Southampton too, unless that's the one you meant?Mike Lake away at Forest? Seem to recall a belter.

John Gannon, very soon after Zico at SouthamptonMike Lake away at Forest? Seem to recall a belter.
John Gannon is an interesting one.John Gannon, very soon after Zico at Southampton
Crazy thing it was a right footer at Forest shorty after Zico’s goal if I remember correctly. Happy to witness both!John Gannon is an interesting one.
I seem to recall that he was a bit of a fans scapegoat at the time, but not sure why, as he had a decent left foot (not in the league of Hodges but then who was).
The less of the ball we seem to have the more we score!Isn't this, along with the resurgence of the long throw, just a reaction to possession based football losing its dominance?
If memory serves:If anything it’ll be Michael Brown in 2002/03….scored some belters!
I’m sure I recall reading that Wilder didn’t like people shooting from outside the box due to low xG…
It does seem to me to have a higher xG than passing out wide from a good central shooting position and allowing oppo defence to set their defence before putting in a poor cross/losing possession…
2008 Yes, Leicester at home (hat trick for him that day and ironically 3-0 at half time) Burnley away and then pigs at homeDidn't Beattie score a free kick in 3 consecutive games?
I was in my teens, but you're right, he was the scapegoat. I don't think he was direct enough or physical enough and he seemed to play sideways. Again, it was a long time ago. He used to jog about whilst most of the play was either over him or down the flanks.John Gannon is an interesting one.

Big Tri Dellas with a rocket versus Portsmouth (?) too!
Plenty of Woody's screamers during his 14 years with us
Thanks to Matthew Bell of Flashing Blade for sending me the attachment of the feature I did for Flashing Blade in around 2002. I will copy and paste each season per page so that you can read about Woody's goals and assists in one particular season you enjoyed in one page rather than having to read the whole lot in one page.
Having watched the Blades regularly since 1970 it was a real privilege seeing many of Alan Woodward's great goals and assists from crosses or corners. I have therefore been to the Sheffield Library to look in the Green ‘Un and Morning Telegraph archives...

Me neither but I don't recall saying I didI don't remember McCall hitting one from.distance either![]()
Brown way ahead of GusI was pondering recently on which Blades player during my lifetime has scored the most worldies/screamers etc. Bearing in mind TC and Woodward were before my time, I'd have to say Gus. Can't think of anyone else who has scored quite so many long range efforts since I started going to Bramall Lane in the mid 80s. I know Borbokis, Beattie and Norwood scored a few free kicks and Michael Brown and Jags scored some belters, but I can't think of anyone who is anywhere close to Gus. Am I missing anyone?
