If only there were some decent films from the 1940s and 50s to show Hagan's wonderful ball skills!
If you rummage around the "Tinternet" presumably mainly 'You Tube' there are a few wartime, 1939-45, internationals and at least one cup tie at The Lane.
Forgetting the details, one international, V Scotland at Hamden where he is all over the pitch, probing, finding space and generally keeping every thing ticking. I was amazed, despite the piece of film only running for 3-4 mins. In my Hagan watching days he got around the pitch ok but he was the go to player who all but strolled through games providing the extra skill and footballing brain, through no fault of their own, the rest of the team didn't have.
The FA Cup game at the Lane, I cannot remember the opposition but in it there is a classic piece of Hagan.
Kicking to kop, James Hagan, corner of penalty area stops play and stands, ball at feet and facing the Terrace/JSS. Defender in front and one to his right, not sure what they should do, he shimmies his shoulders, Colin Colinridge runs behind defender facing Hagan and Jimmy slots ball between the defenders to Colinridge, now clear of defenders, who whips in a cross.
The out come of the cross I cannot recall but I believe Blades lost.
