Where's the spin?
That article is an unintentional comedy festival.
"Our attendances are slightly down. The average last season was 24,000 or 25,000 and we're down to 20,000 to 21,000 this time. We've been feeling a twofold effect: the economic climate and the performance on the pitch."
Try the ticket prices being fucking ridiculous, particularly in the current economic climate.

I've read it and didn't guffaaw once, or even smile, can you point out which bits are funny?
The bits about being debt free when we aren't, and the 4-5000 drop in attendences being "slightly down" for starters.
BTW, well done to you for making a post that doesn't attack Lenners.
Sorry, you're a one trick pony. All I see is Len this, Len that. What did he do, run over your cat or something?
Really? the radio pig thread contains an attack on Len from you.

Saying "we've lost the parachute payments" as if some fuckers turned up and taken them away. They were on a known timescale - LOST nowt.
The parachute payments have gone but the contracts agreed with the players should have reflected this or didn't we think of that?
The direct quote from Birch is "effectively debt free", which is nonsense, and the first para says that we are debt free according to Birch. So either he is mis-quoted in that para or he did say it. Anyway, I found it comical, given our actual debt position is the main thing that prevents any investment in decent players.
Of course it's bloody comedy.
What debt free club with aspirations for the Prem signs Coventry and Leeds reserves?
Not sure who the joke's on though.
How do our ticket prices compare to the rest of the division?
Or another comparison, how do ours compare with:
Donny, Barnsley, Leeds, Derby, Nottm Fores
And....Sheff Wed, Huddersfield
And... Rotherham and Chesterfield
I see, that makes it ok then. Ticket prices in general are ridiculous not just at the lane, in these times of fiscal turbulence it would make perfect sense to lower them by a few quid, thus providing a more attractive proposition for those who are in two minds about going.
One that's in a massive mess and needs some players who the new manager thinks will help us scrape a few wins to keep us in this league?
Prem aspirations maybe, but doing it this year is surely even far too clever for Trevor?
Would we be better in this battle without the two players you are talking about? Or could we possibly attract better at the minute? I personally think not
