Give the man a chance

And fucking man up. 3 games for pity's sake.

Last night was another horrible low, just how much more do we have to take?

Not having a go at you I sat in stunned silence last night on the South Stand watching old men who should know better offering each other a fight.

The club just seemingly can't get it right no matter what we do.

This has all the feel of a relegation season.

No one will wake up this morning hurting more than Chris wilder , he knows the problems and he will rectify them ,some people's reactions are just embarrassing .

Does he know the problems? We were shit Saturday and played worse last night. Why didn't he make a single change after Saturday?

No point calling for his head because it's not going to get us anywhere, just like sacking Adkins has got us nowhere. Might as well give Wilder at least two years to try and turn it round, I thought he would be the next fall guy at the end of the season but looks like it could be xmas instead. Hope I'm wrong!

The only difference this season is at least I know the boss genuinely has the best interests of the club at heart, that said it has been dogshit so far, for that reason I won't be travelling the length of the country on Saturday, I'll be listening on the radio, until I see a change in effort and attitude from the players I won't be making the effort to spend my hard earned cash and days off work watching that fucking tripe. Bollocks to it

I always think a new manager should get 2 seasons, unless its so bad and we are on for relegation, as we are currently. But we will have to see where we are at mid point of season.

He is a Blade so he cares I am sure about that. The worry is that most are his signings. We clearly need better players..a new goalkeeper and some pace/creativity in midfield.

No shots on target! I am not the biggest fans of Sharp/Clarke but they are proven goalscorers at this level with the right service...even though in my opinion we don't go about it the right way with such signings because both would be dog shite in the Championship.

Another new season we start favourites, another season with a loss of optimism after a couple of games. The 2 home games had to be 6pts! Rochdale and Southend ffs.

The only people around here who need to man up are our players, our manager and our chairman.
He's certainly going to need to buy a few more lunches after last night.

I didn't want him to start with, but changing the manager is not going to make a difference this season as there is no loan window available for a new man to rectify the mistakes already made.

The one exception to this would be if we could get Warnock to come back as he seems the only person around who can turn poor squads into winners, but that seems impossible whilst McCabe is still here.

We could have to suck this one up, except a relegation and hope we can bounce straight back and start to rebuild from there.

I feel entitled to criticise the players when they play as badly and with so little application as they did last night, including those that have been signed with such fanfare.

And likewise, I should be able to criticise the manager, even after three games, when there clearly are some questions to be asked about the tactics and signings.

I am not sure why or how I should "man up".

I've not read a post calling for him to be sacked.

His reaction, to blame two 'offside goals' that weren't actually offside, was quite embarrassing.

I'm not calling for his head but I've lost most of the faith I had in him. The style of football being the main reason, it's dreadful.
From where I was I'm undecided on the 3rd goal but you will never see a more blatant offside for the 2nd. Fact remains though that it was a series of monumental cock ups that put us in that position in the first place

A Rovrum fan called football heaven last week and said of Warnock "he finds a formation to suit the players he has and not play players in a formation that does not suit them" Basically what we need to do ourselves. Hardly rocket science

No it's not rocket science, but there must be more to it than that or anyone would be able to do it and clearly they can't.

Stick with him, nothing else to do. It may take 2-3 years to get promoted. Change the manager again and the downward spiral continues.

Last night was beyond terrible.

However, Wilder has a good record at other clubs, he cares about the place and he needs time. Sacking managers has got us nowhere...from Warnock, to Blackwell, to Wilson, to Clough. I wasn't overly keen on Blackwell or Clough, but at least they had us at the right end of the table.

We have to give Wilder 2 years. On paper we've brought in some good managers, they can't all be bad overnight as soon as they come here.

Oh, and sign Ched, that would help.

Absolutely. Questions should be asked, not so much of Wilder, but of the players... and his interview suggests he is doing that.
Genuinely.. why just the players? As crap as their efforts have been they look to be trying to play something none of them are suited for. Leon Clarke will never be a target man all day yet we seem to persist lumping it up to him then wonder why the ball is coming back to us.

The trouble is we are utterly atrocious atm. I'm not calling for Wilders head, goodness knows we should have learnt by now that sacking managers doesn't help. However, the "its only 3 games" doesn't really wash when we are as bad as this. 3 games, 1 goal scored, 5 conceded. 1 point and no sign of improvement. We have had a summer to bring in a virtual whole new team and have succeeded in bringing in possibly worse players than the year before when we finished 11th in league 1. I can't see any reason to be optimistic until McCabe goes.

I like Wilders honesty but at the end of the day that wont keep us up, it reminds me of Mick McCarthy when he was at Sunderland, he said how bad the team was at the end of each game, and got relegated, it made no real difference.
Wilder chose to name an unchanged team even tho we have been awful so far, that worries me. For sat we are in v real danger of another hiding.
We have to get rid of George Long and play Done in his right position. Bash isn't good enough either. This has all the feeling of Weir mark 2............

I have a plan....all those that were so disgustingly bad and disinterested last year....get them as far away from the new signings as possible. Play the kids if we have too (or until these imaginary signings make an appearance).
There is something very wrong with that squad, look at the lineup on paper.....should it really be losing in that manner to Southend at home ? (no disrespect to them btw)
There is a poison there and it needs removing, that's the only thing I can think of?!?

Unfortunately sitwell you are not seeing what we are. As LS26BLADE said people who have sat together for years and shared banter were screaming at each other in the stands, others walked out, very little booing just one ripple at the end of each half as the realisation set in we are a toxic club for whatever reason and it's hurting.

Can't say I've heard anyone have a a go at wilder so it's a bit out of order posting a rebuke for something the fans have not done! As for Wilder he does appear clueless on the sideline. He made a big thing about keeping Long and played hardball with his contract, problem is his initial decision to make Long No1 is open to inspection. Similarly his apparent faith in Scoogle when we see him being pushed out of the way on or off the ball.

As for negotiations to apparently employ every pig veteran it questions if his hard stance on contracts and wages are realistic or is he out of touch with how far the money tree has infected the lower divisions? One thing is for sure those he has brought in (maybe Clarke apart) his vision of building a fast attacking side is in tatters. He's replaced dross lookin for a payday with unknown dross.

In summary McCabe has acted to resolve the problems he created with appointments and funding by employing a Warnockesk charecter who unfortunately appears to be running the team part of the club like a passionate fan. He's blaming everything including the officials who were not at fault more than any others, but credit where it's due he has taken responsibility for players he's brought in not performing. As for his decision to make Billy Captain it appears to have backfired big time by negating him as an attacking force. Last night he was back in the trenches defending deep on several occasions when he should have been upfront.

So please with all due respect to a seasoned well respected poster when we are all hurting don't tell us to "man up for pity's sake" it doesn't change anything especially when we managed 1 shot on target in two home defeats. We used to call it fortress BDTBL and wouldn't expect to lose more than 2 all season not our first 2 to village teams.

As always sitters ;)
