DCL scored two tonight but has dropped down the pecking order since they bought the Turkish lad ....

Walcott, Rickarlison and maybe Niasse in front of him.

At DCL's age he needs game time and the battle of the Championship would toughen him up.

DCL's pace would give us something extra and he wasn't disgraced as a lone striker in early part of last season.

Not convinced Villa or Boro are going to help their rivals for promotion ....

UTB

I doubt they'd loan him given he's in squads and not to a club where he wouldn't necessarily start.

Said this the other day.

He’s a far better option than any who are within in our reach and rumoured.
Ashley Fletcher is crap, and that’s at Championship level. Scott Hogan is injured.

If DCL didn’t used to be here and didn’t have his unflattering cameo appearances absolutely everyone would feel the same.

He’s grown so much since then as a player. He’s quick, strong, gives 100%, a good finisher and has been playing against Premier League defences for 2 years. And his pace would mean we could finally be capable on the counter attack.

He’s proven today he’s capable of scoring goals against the calibre of opposition we’ll face this season, Rotherham have been really solid since that opening day battering and they played at full strength today.

He's not a good finisher. He's not a regular goalscorer and never has been in senior football.
He is. I’ve seen him in our reserves, hes got an instinct. His goal for England in the u20 World Cup final was fantastic too, may I add that’s the level above Brooks was playing at at the same time.

And it’s unfair to say that since he’s mostly played premier league football. His goal return isn’t even that bad at that level. He scored 5 in 7 starts for Northampton under Chris. Admittedly he looked a bit out of place for us under Adkins but who didn’t? He’s done great since then.

Ask Everton fans. He's not a goalscorer.

And the reserves and under 20s are not senior football.

Sorry it was 7 starts.
So that’s 7 starts 5 goals for Northampton so I wouldn’t say he’s ‘not a regular goal scorer at professional level’ despite that being a small sample. At the end of the day he’s mainly played in the Prem apart from that.

He might not seem a regular goalscorer at Prem Level. He’s 21 years of age and jumped straight from basically League 2 to Prem. Name me 21 year olds period who score goals regularly at any level? They’re normally world class strikers worth hundreds of millions such as Harry Kane, Mbappe, Gabriel Jesus.

I’ll say it till I’m blue in the face (Ironic), I think DCL would be superb for us.

7 starts plus 13 sub appearances. 5 goals. 3 years ago in League 2.

That's not evidence of a likely regular Championship scorer.

The last thing we want is another James Wilson.

He would be the one I would go after now if I was in CW position, but wages might make this a non starter.

I cant be arsed to post his stats again, i did it on another thread but hes really not that great, in fact his stats confirm he is actually pretty bad.

Im not just talking about goals or assists either but he brings very little to the team when he plays.

Fuck him, wanted out, so good luck to him, but no way would Wilder have him back.

Still, `Once a Blade`....eh Dom

Clarke only has 5 goals in his last 20 appearances
DCL only has 4 goals in his last 20 Everton appearances

Don't you just love stats?

I'm not that bothered now about whether he's a Blade or not, what he was like in our reserves or in his cameo appearances when with us. Its what he's like NOW that I would be interested in. As others have said, he left as a reserve and has since played a fair bit of PL football but struggled to adapt from League One reserve to PL sub/occasional starter. In my view he should have stayed for his career but he wanted to move to Everton, which I think was a mistake. I reckon by now he'd have scored a lot more goals and played far more football and maybe even left us by now to the PL.

If we can get him back on loan I'd be up for it. He's got unfinished business here, has a great work ethic, great in the air and has pace. His finishing I am not as sure on but I'm sure he'd improve with game time.

It really doesn't matter if he's a finisher or not, Everton won't be letting him go out on loan so it's all moot.

Who's more likely to have a track record a 21 year old or a 33 year old?

My point was more about stats to be fair, we're never going to sign a striker with a decent goal scoring record on our budget.

Can you blame him? He was offered a move to Everton when he was anything but a guaranteed starter in L1

Not at all, I would have done the same!

It`s just the fact his agent (as did Brooks) was touting him round premiership clubs, then he gives it the `Its been a dream playing for Utd` bollocks

Nope. Not good enough. Most Everton fans can't believe he was anywhere near their first team last season.

He’s probably a better back up option than Lavery so if it’s a last minute desperation thing I would reluctantly get behind this one.

We can’t afford to just have Sharp, Clarke and McG as our only options from now until January

Ask Everton fans. He's not a goalscorer.

They said the same about James Beattie, who got 2 goals (both penalties) in 15 starts and 18 sub appearances the season prior to his £4m move to us. DCL is also still at an age where he can develop. He’s preferable to a good number that I’ve seen us linked with this summer.
