Nope. Not good enough. Most Everton fans can't believe he was anywhere near their first team last season.

It’s fair to say that if all our strikers were bought today by Everton they too wouldn’t be anywhere their first team. Being close to starting for an established Premier League team shouldn’t be the bar for potential signings that could improve our squad.

I'm very doubtful he'll be going out on loan - squad player at Everton.

For the record though, Calvert Lewin got 4 goals and 6 assists in 18 starts at PL level last year. He'd clearly be a fantastic signing, if it were possible.

They said the same about James Beattie, who got 2 goals (both penalties) in 15 starts and 18 sub appearances the season prior to his £4m move to us. DCL is also still at an age where he can develop. He’s preferable to a good number that I’ve seen us linked with this summer.

Again, Beattie had a track record before he went there.

He did. He also was at an age where it was feasible to have a clear track record (not that it meant he still managed fewer goals in open play that season than Nick Montgomery). I’d also argue that being capable of scoring, say, 5 goals in the Premier League would probably mean you could expect a striker to get double figures if you drop down a league. Their production will inevitably be better against worse opposition.

It's ironic but he is exactly the kind of player we need. Young pacy strong and has a decent goal return and a great shot too. Shame about the attitude
