Praise and grumble is ace ,Giddins accused of being on the pay roll ,West Brom playing against cones. Dingles want the laws changed and the ref should pay the fans off with the proceeds of the brown bag they received from Paul Sturrock great stuff.

Showed what a twat he is by saying he wasn't aware of there being a rule stating that a result will stand if a game is abandoned once 70 minutes has elapsed.
Many years ago Man City were beating Luton 6-2 at Luton in the FA Cup with Denis Law scoring all six goals only for the game to be abandonded after about 75 mins.
In the replayed match Luton won 3-1 with Law again on the scoresheet.
Believe it was the record scoring seven goals in a match and finishing on the losing side! (Certain it was Man City but could have been Huddersfield - it was a long time ago!)

Giddins is a football journalist so he should know, you can be excused. Actually, no, you can't, do you not remember the Sheff Utd game that was abandoned against West Brom? The result of that one stood as more than 70 minutes had gone.I too wasnt aware of this; i guess that makes me and Giddings a right pair.

I could excuse it not being known at the time of the match being abandoned, but for the guy not to do his research almost 2 hrs later is very slack. Surely someone between BBC in Plymouth and BBC Sheff would have known and let him know... or Just fecking Googled it!

Really? I was under the impression it would have stood anyway as it was our fault we couldn't field enough players (what with the sendings off).
The more I think about it, the more i think you're right, but it doesn't seem fair really.
Giddins - People phone in to give their points and he cuts them off. Not for any other reason than they have to do traval news. Cannot remember which button to press to put them on hold and come back to them -pathetic. Then he will try to cram ten callers in, in the last two minutes.

FIFA said:LAW 7 - THE DURATION OF THE MATCH

LAW 7 - THE DURATION OF THE MATCH
PERIODS OF PLAY
The match lasts two equal periods of 45 minutes, unless otherwise mutually agreed between the referee and the two participating teams. Any agreement to alter the periods of play (for example to reduce each half to 40 minutes because of insufficient light) must be made before the start of play and must comply with competition rules.
HALF-TIME INTERVAL
Players are entitled to an interval at half-time.
The half-time interval must not exceed 15 minutes.
Competition rules must state the duration of the half-time interval.
The duration of the half-time interval may be altered only with the consent of the referee.
ALLOWANCE FOR TIME LOST
Allowance is made in either period for all time lost through:
- substitution(s)
- assessment of injury to players
- removal of injured players from the field of play for treatment
- wasting time
- any other cause
The allowance for time lost is at the discretion of the referee.
PENALTY KICK
Additional time is allowed for a penalty kick to be taken at the end of each half or at the end of periods of extra time.
EXTRA TIME
Competition rules may provide for two further equal periods to be played. The conditions of Law 8 will apply.
ABANDONED MATCH
An abandoned match is replayed unless the competition rules provide otherwise.
I was surprised Chris Morgan wasn't blamed for the postponement
He did get a mention though!
The lad getting suspended for his booking in the abandoned game is just the icing on the cake.
Apparantly listening to FH last night Keith Hackett was on and although the match is abandonded, the scores are expunged from the records, there has to be a replay, all yellow cards still count! FIFA ruling even the guy that missed the game through suspension also has to sit out another game but to repeat yellow cards cannot be rescinded Brilliant!
What the Dingles didn't understand is that the referee is the sole arbiter of safety on the football field. If a player gets injured through the state of the ground etc the referee is responsible under Health and Safety rules ie Not fit to play etc and nowadays has to carry out risk assessments on the condition of the pitch.
Having watched the highlights the pitch resembled a swimming pool from midway through the first half so it was a no brainer really - Surprised the ref didn't have a word with both managers at half time to tell them of his concerns! Never mind Eh!
