They are assessing what is best for their bottom line. Will it be better to ask for the passport and lose customers like you. Or will it be better to welcome all comers and lose the risk averse. Yeah I get that but it’s all personal choice. And should remain that. It’s never been voluntary to get vaccinated, it comes down to choice…. Most people were pressed into it earlier in the summer… vaccine targets met and we open up. We achieved that as a nation.

Then the goal posts moved… younger people given the vaccine, then kids…

I’ll still go on the train, to the pub and to the ground but I won’t be showing a steward my phone so I fully expect to get turned around, I’ll head back to the pub and train home… zero sense in a passport as if I’m unvaccinated I could just as easily get it in a busy pub or train

Instead of one big tidal wave it's more a case of the tide coming in slowly but steadily that seems to be the issue. Localised issues with hospitals getting too busy to do normal stuff and with winter coming that will only get worse. Getting as many vaccinated as possible seems to be the plan and if that means twisting their arm so be it. That said a large majority are already done so not sure how much real world effect it will have from here.

Governments are quite rightly suspicious of each other’s vaccine proofs. This is not a Yorkshire problem, but a global pandemic will require a global solution to major sporting events, music festivals and air travel.
The solution will come from major corporations and global players in industries like big pharma and airlines.
Whatever they end up producing will need to adapt to government rules, at least at the G20 level. Such vaccine passes will become accepted norms that can be used at any level, from worldwide travel, to local restaurants.
Subject to the vagaries of possible fraud and the whims of government, secure digital proof will be an essential tool for governments and individuals.
What happens when the efficacy of your vax requires boosters? Big pharma have a vested interest in making secure digital proof acceptable on a global scale. Whatever you think of pharmacology companies, they will have to invest some of those big profits to secure future booster sales.
Look at what IATA are trying to do. It seems like a potentially secure and sensible system of digital proof looking to be sufficiently flexible for airlines, governments and individuals.

Today legislation was passed that mandated ‘Covid Passports’ to gain entry to nightclubs and major events as of 1st October. This passport will be in the form of a QR code on a phone app.

Thing is there is no definition as to what a nightclub is or what constitutes a major event. The cherry on the cake though, is that the app doesn’t exist yet and they couldn’t even give an answer to when it would be available; this 3 weeks away from when it’s required.

The alternative is to rumble on like this for years while a vocal minority of generally thick people shout about their rights like Americans waving guns. I'm getting increasingly fed up with the conspiracy theorists and the morons who ignore any evidence put in front of them and just post made up nonsense from some person claiming to be a scientist in Transylvania.

It will eventually be mandatory, or as good as, and there's a moral prerogative to make it mandatory given not having it puts others in danger. Hurts the economy. Hurts others.

At the very least, people refusing to have it should be banned from attending large events.

There will always be a group of people who can't (or at least it's incredibly difficult to) have vaccines, and this group needs protection more than others.

The sooner the vast majority of adults and children are vaccinated, the better. (yes, there's not much benefit for children but there is a huge benefit for anyone who comes into contact with them)

We need to try and get things as close to normal as possible and all I can currently see in the future is lockdown after lockdown, wave after wave. The sheer amount of people who won't wear a face mask is evidence you can't trust the public to do the right thing.

NO it’s not. That’s for you lot down there. Health is a devolved responsibility, we have a separate NHS IT system. Our Track and Trace is different and guess what so will the NHS app. Hopefully, they could ‘borrow’ the version south of the border and tie it in to the Scot’s system.

There's no question that the Gvt have put stuff out there for the last 18 months to gauge reaction but I'm hopeful this will be the case.

I really don't see the need for such in a heavily vaccinated country, particularly with circumstances around transmission.

Never been jabbed and don't plan to it's all a mess I've seen people on Twitter say there loved ones have been jabbed and been really poorly or paralysed in some way,it's not for me.

Can you believe how many people are laughing at this post? Stories of loved ones being paralysed after the jabs and people are actually finding it funny.

I know your post is 2 years old nearly, but knowing what we know now about the jabs, I wonder if those people feel silly for laughing at these stories relating to harm?
