How did he stab Hecky in the back? Then stabbing Heckingbottom in the back to get the job back whilst placing his tongue up Prince's ring![]()
The summer dealings were down to the Prince being out of his depth so Hecky, who let's not forget got us to the playoffs then promoted the season after, didn't have the "tools" to do the job in the hardest league in the world. Then when things started going wrong Princy was quoted as saying that him and good old "I'll throw my dummy out" and walk out on my "home town club" Chris Wilder had made up and had met several times to discuss things. Next move bye bye Hecky. That to me is a stab in Hecky's back. Having said that I've been a Blade for 63 years and I do believe in giving credit where it's due. Wilder is without doubt one of our better managers and his rebuild and the position he has put us in at present deserves credit. Should we go up this season I feel that American owners or not Wilder and the team, like many others, will struggle and most likely will come straight back down again. As for being an established Premier League club - easier said than done. Only 3 British managers in the Premier League, over 70% of players are foreign born and I believe 19 out of the 20 clubs have Directors of Football/Sporting Directors. Thats not the Chris Wilder and Sheffield United way !!!How did he stab Hecky in the back?
It was pretty clear the summer dealings did for Hecky.
The Prince either stuck with him all the way or decided to change the only thing he could afford to and that was the Manager.
The fact he went to Chris is down to the Prince.
Unless there is clear evidence of wilder stabbing in his back which this isn't then he didn't. No one knows what happened, yes summer recruitment had a lot to do with PA and scouting staff, but Hecky is a big boy and could stand up to him and say no to XYZ, which I'm guessing he didn't and was happy to be a yes man, he then ultimately couldn't get the performance nor results from said team and had to go.The summer dealings were down to the Prince being out of his depth so Hecky, who let's not forget got us to the playoffs then promoted the season after, didn't have the "tools" to do the job in the hardest league in the world. The reason Hecky got fired has absolutely nothing to do with Wilder .We all knew that Hecky was going to get sacked before a ball was kicked in the Prem thanks to the club letting his best two players leaving and being replaced by a number of over seas players who would never make the team sheets of any other team in the prem . Most fans knew what the outcome would be before the first matched kicked off . What that has to do with Wilder is beyond me. Most clubs strengthen the squad when promoted to the prem we weakened it. As you say Wilder has done a first class job rebuilding a over the hill squad and getting us to where we are even before the new owners were here we were right up there . Hecky was in a no win situation with a squad that was thread bare and trying to compete with clubs in probably the toughest league in the world with no way of changing things . Felt sorry for the guy .The summer dealings were down to the Prince being out of his depth so Hecky, who let's not forget got us to the playoffs then promoted the season after, didn't have the "tools" to do the job in the hardest league in the world. I don't think the Prince was "out of his depth" - I think he was just skint. Rather than spending money that the club couldn't afford, we bought a few development talents, and threw them straight into the Premier League. It was obvious from the outset that we were coming straight back down but, painful as that was, we are now benefiting hugely from his financial responsibility. The summer dealings were down to the Prince being out of his depth so Hecky, who let's not forget got us to the playoffs then promoted the season after, didn't have the "tools" to do the job in the hardest league in the world. Forrin muck will never work in Sheffield, we gave Slav at least 3 months and he didn’t sign Messi and Ronaldo so it’s doomed to failure next time as well.As just one example, Bournemouth managed to find Andoni Iraola who wasn’t really on the radar before his appointment and has done amazingly well. Similarly with Thomas Frank & Fabian Hurzeler, and even de Zerbi before him. They are certainly out there.
Being skint is the same thing as being out of his depth in this context. Covid hurt the Prince big time and the loss of income. He did a good job overall - but simply had to sell due to his lack of finances to support a club even at the top end of the Championship.I don't think the Prince was "out of his depth" - I think he was just skint. Or severely cutting back on the Peroni... I'm going jab.Has he been on the Ozempic?
The Club didn’t let them leave they chose to leave and both doing well in the PremiershipThe reason Hecky got fired has absolutely nothing to do with Wilder .We all knew that Hecky was going to get sacked before a ball was kicked in the Prem thanks to the club letting his best two players leaving and being replaced by a number of over seas players who would never make the team sheets of any other team in the prem . I agree that he was certainly out of his depth financially, but he wasn’t out of his depth in terms of ability to plan and execute a strategy appropriate to the situation and his resources. Invest in home-grown talent, buy cheap development talents and hope to make money on some of them, and exist as a yo-yo club between Premier League and Championship while slowly accruing playing assets. He did all of that well, despite the turbulence of McCabe’s exit, and left us in a better place for it.Being skint is the same thing as being out of his depth in this context. Covid hurt the Prince big time and the loss of income. He did a good job overall - but simply had to sell due to his lack of finances to support a club even at the top end of the Championship.
We know that ,the point is the replacements the club brought in that were well below the standard required . We were much weaker come the first match than we were at the end of the previous season .The Club didn’t let them leave they chose to leave and both doing well in the Premiership
Exactly....so he either walked for nowt or was pushed with a payoff.Surely you shouldn’t be entitled to anything if you’re the one walking out?
