Completely agree with the thought process of going 4231 next season. Would need to bring in a solid LB though as priority as we cant be certain what RND will be like after such a long lay off. Then we need a Olafinjana/Kouyate/Ndidi/Choudhury type as one of the 2 in front of the back 4.

If Sticky Fingers can't sell us in 4 weeks Hecky has a vile budget of £30 Mill to cover every squad players wages, loan fees, freebies signing on fees, all playing staff etc etc. So grow up times will be hard we will have to be grateful for every player who is willing to stay under thief of Prem money & Parachute money Abdullah. Although I've heard the rumour the Prem will investigate what Abdullah did with this Prem Grant to help Sheffield United! Not his other 4 scabby clubs!!!

Look at Leeds. They would’ve benefited from Egan. He’s head and shoulders above the shit they’ve got. Liam Cooper…

Listen, even when we got relegated. We only got dicked on once. Defence wasn’t the issue. Hasn’t ever been, except when Slav was fucking about with 4 at the back. Attack and Midfield were a main downfalls in the prems second season.

We have a full international captain at CB. He’s a prem player. One of the handful we have.

just think egan would benefit from having another centre back closer to him in a 4 hes left too exposed at times with our other centre backs splitting get tommy doyle signed and bring a good physical defensive midfielder in to form the pivot we havent got the quality of strikers to play 2 up top in the premier league so bring a good quality striker in and play berge illy and mcatee as the 3 in behind

No, we need a new Robbo, as has been pointed out, but, as we dont know who that is yet, we have Anel and Eags on the left of a 4.
 
think coady would come in as a challenger to egan for the centre half role and would be a great signing imo if affordable

2. The team has played in a similar system since 2018. In that period we've been promoted to the top flight twice.
3. Our defence has been our strongest asset
4. We've been promoted and will be playing against teams that Has significantly better players than us every single week
5. Our back 5 are pretty settled and used to playing as a back 5.

6. Some of our fans want to change the system that has brought us success, which the players are extremely comfortable and skilled playing, which got us promotion, to a back 4? Really? Has it worked really well when we've switched to it in this division? How was that for Slav? You do realise that none of our players have played as a 4 in the top division? Or at all, regularly, for 5 years?

While we're at it, why not get rid of the CB at the heart of our defence for two promotions and in a season where we finished 7th in the top flight? The guy who plays almost every game for us. The guy who captains us most game. The guy who organises the defence. We can spend all our vast amount of money brining in someone who doesn't know our system or players and will cost half of our transfer budget.

personally i like the idea of a back 4 with 2 holding midfielders protecting the centre backs but certainly see your point about sticking to a system the players know but if we do that we cant play with 2 out and out strikers we have to get the extra man in midfield or they wont see any of the ball anyway we need to bring in a good striker and then play 2 in behind him gyorkeres or adams would be ideal for that role

Those are two players we'll not get within a million miles of! Both way out of our price range and league.

I take your point. If we play 5 at the back the midfield and attack need to be a lot better. As do the wingbacks

well it more than likely will be 5 at the back next season but for me we need an extra body in midfield and just play with a lone striker otherwise we wont have the possesion to win games in the premier league

Trusty is left footed. Defence is going to look a mess with a left footer on the right.

That said Egan needs to do better. Decent header but he's supposed to be marking him. He gets a completely free header.

We feared their pace a bit and Johnson never had a kick. Yet two simple headers after all that effort wins it. Thrown away a point tonight.

Back 3 have been terrible first three games which is the last thing we need with all the other problems we're having to deal with
Not being able to.rely on your back 3 to do basics has cost us big time
All three goals so far have been down to Egan not being decisive enough
 



Bad defending on all 3 of our goals conceded to date …that sad re tonight .. you’ve gotta put your 1 on 1 chances away at this level .. still desperately short of quality up top
