Anyone know what his role with us will be?
He's the bloke who was our 3rd choice goalie 2012ish isn't he?He's been goalkeeping coaching at Shirecliffe for some time. More often than not, has been travelling to U21 games as the goalkeeping coach. At times, has "visibly" left an U21 game early to clear off somewhere to actually keep goal at another ground in the evening.
I couldn't swear to dates and roles. He's the bloke who was our 3rd choice goalie 2012ish isn't he?
I vaguely remember Mark Howard got injured Oct 2012, so George Long got promoted to the first team with the very young GW getting on the bench until we signed Danny Coyne on a short term contract.I couldn't swear to dates and roles.
But yes, George came through our Academy system.
If he doesn’t we’ll put him the recruitment team who also seem to know b*gger all about recruitment.Does he know anything about recruitment?
utb
Played for england at youth levelI couldn't swear to dates and roles.

Yes, Brian Jessop (often went to Academy matches) rated George highly despite being quite small for a keeper. He's the bloke who was our 3rd choice goalie 2012ish isn't he?
Big blayard
George Willis was more highly rated than George Long, but was released by Wilder as soon as he took over. Good to see him back on the scene, always seemed like a nice ladI vaguely remember Mark Howard got injured Oct 2012, so George Long got promoted to the first team with the very young GW getting on the bench until we signed Danny Coyne on a short term contract.
If I remember rightly GW was with us until 2016, made the bench a few times, but never played in the first team.
Who by? They got that wrong George Long has had a solid career as a proGeorge Willis was more highly rated than George Long, but was released by Wilder as soon as he took over. Good to see him back on the scene, always seemed like a nice lad
There were plenty of reports at the time saying Willis was looking the better of the two but was younger and smaller. Similar to Terry Kennedy being more highly rated than Maguire but was much smaller, and in both cases the other one ended up with the big career!Who by? Fair play to George Long, I've posted before about the unwarranted abuse a section of our fans gave him. He's done well to play through all of that and forge a decent career.
Yes thats what let him down played for England as a kid ! Any goali under 6ft these days has problems.Cooper is 6ft and he is short by top level standards ! Cant dominate his box.Yes, Brian Jessop (often went to Academy matches) rated George highly despite being quite small for a keeper.

Was it Wilder? I had it in my head it was Nigel Adkins that released him?George Willis was more highly rated than George Long, but was released by Wilder as soon as he took over. Good to see him back on the scene, always seemed like a nice lad
Bob Widdowson was a lot taller than Hodgy but he remained an understudy to Hodgy for many years. Fred White was a lot bigger than Jack Smith and Ted Burgin but he was usually the reserve keeper. For Wendy you can see how big Ron Capewell (far right) was in the below photo but he was the reserve keeper to Dave McIntosh who was a lot shorter.Makes you wonder how Hodgie 5ft 9ins played for England. That was his short coming though he Eddie Hopkinson and Ron Springett were all short by keeper standards even in the
60s and 70s.

I had seen Chris Hussey look absolutely fantastic as a 17 year old in the ryman league division one south and West so was looking forward to him playing for us...turns out the other guy we signed that day had a bigger impact in Mark Duffy.Having watched them plenty through the youth, I thought Willis was the best keeper we had. If he'd have been bigger, I'd have promoted him early...
Then again, I tipped Maxime Chanot and Erik Tonne to both do well.

A friend of mine was recently in Norway and stayed with Erik Tonne's best friend. I was going to ask if you had a message you'd like to pass on but thought it might be weird. I'm sorry.Having watched them plenty through the youth, I thought Willis was the best keeper we had. If he'd have been bigger, I'd have promoted him early...

Not in the photo, he is the keeper in the below photoWhich one was the usual pig keeper then on that photo? (McIntosh?). I was left looking for the one who looked like he had a bad back after picking the ball out of the net for years, as my only 8clue. Or, wasnt he on that photo? As usual, they look a set of ugly Wendy fuckers.
