It’s Hillsborough
The railings scuppered me as I never realised there were railings on the south side at Qwlerton at that time.
I had been on the north side for the 1954 Jan. 9th, FAC 3rd round derby game, but with 61250 in attendance, saw little of the game as an 11 year old, never mind the railings on the opposite side.

That's some years ago 😵 I was born in 92 if it makes you feel better fella 😂

Just found a photo in 1961 when the North Stand was built. You can see the South Stand opposite and it looks like you are right but it wasnt rebuild, just that it became all seater in 1966 ready for the World Cup and then a new tier was added in 1996 ready for the Euros.

Have they ever paid for a stand out of their own money or has the majority of the construction been funded by the FA for major tournaments?

I may be wide of the mark here but it always appears that they’ve had a huge wedge of FA money when they have redeveloped the ground.

Sticking a roof on the East side kop, aside.

I read somewhere that the Sheffield City Council owned or part owned the stadium for some years since the 1966 World Cup. Not sure if Mandaric or Chansiri bought the stadium from them.
