Since when does McCabe talk to anyone these days?

TRANSFER NEWS ‏@transfernewsy 3h3 hours ago

According to a reliable source, George Moncur is talking to Sheffield United chairman Kevin Mcabe over a possible transfer #colu #sufc

The mention of Kevin McCabe is the biggest giveaway that the rumour is a massive pile of bullshit. That and the fact that their manager and our local media have firmly stated there's nothing in it.

Talking to Kevin McCabe :D.....we're lucky if he shows for more than two games a season!

as above, that was kinda what I was implying

Looked very average, and lightweight yesterday, been in and out of the Colchester team, which might indicate he's not as good as everyone thinks.

Well, McCabe was down there apparently. Hopefully it's true and he charmed the fuck out of him and convinced him to sign.
If you saw Moncur play yesterday you wouldn't even have him on the Bench He Looked slow , physically lacking and struggled to pass the ball forward. I thought Sordell looked a far better all round player. How many times have you seen Moncur live to make this judgement? I have seen Moncur 3 times now as I am not convinced he would improve us.

Well assuming this is true as well as Colchester's claim that no bids have been made then we can expect to be reported to the football league for tapping him up

Do you really think that sort of thing is always reported and punished?

I'd like us to look at Sordell too, he's out of contract in the summer. Moncur looks good from what I've seen and has scored a lot of goals but more than anything he's just the right sort of profile we should be going for. Young, mobile, in form - and in our division, not too expensive, low risk. Sign three or four players like him and you only need one to come good to get your money back.

I don't see monxur as better than Baxter. Not sure what the fuss is personally. I hope this is wrong.

George Moncur just tweeted that he is staying with Colchester.

We've gone from seeking a couple of additions to galvanise the push through the second half of the season, to sacking kids to save a few bob. When does the going backwards stop and the going forwards start? Anyone else think next season we'll sign someone called Givens who'll take a penalty in the last game of the season..................

I would have preferred it if we tried to sign Alex Gilbey from Colchester. Very promising player and out of contract. There may be competition for him though. Bristol City made a couple of bids in January.

Colchester United: Alex Gilbey 'destined for Premier League'

Alex Gilbey has made more than 100 career senior appearances
Colchester boss Kevin Keen has said "precious jewel" midfielder Alex Gilbey has Premier League potential.

The 21-year-old has scored twice in 28 games this season, including against Fleetwood in League One on Tuesday.

"Alex Gilbey is a precious jewel for this football club. In my opinion in two or three years he will be a Premier League player," Keen told BBC Essex.

"He's one of the best players in the division and worth a hell of a lot of money to this football club."

Keen continued: "He's learning very quickly, he's fantastic. He's not just a runner, he can score goals, tackle, win headers, he's a real jewel for this football club."

Glbey has made 107 appearances for the U's in all competitions since graduating through their youth academy and helped Keen's side draw against fellow strugglers Fleetwood on Tuesday.

The result lifted Colchester to 22nd in League One, five points from safety.

"It's a point on the way to the 30 [more] points I think we needed, so we're down to 29," Keen said of the draw.

"It's a big ask but I'm sure that once we get the one win we'll get underway."

James Shield writing a full article about fuck all again.

And why not? On BBC the other morning was an item about Spanish football and in particular Atletico, Real and Barca by...Seth Fucking Bennett. Whatever next? Some Geordie bird undergoing gender-realignment treatment as Breakfast's 'Business Correspondent'?
