We can give it 20 games to see if he's good enough. After that,we might have a gem on our hands, or we might have destroyed him and our promotion prospects.

Wilson's persistence with Simmo suggests he's got real concerns about Long. Further, history suggests 17 is too young for keepers, though a good example to the opposite is presented above.

Get someone on Loan. Simmo needs replacing at the end of the season anyway. Let's start the process now.

UTB

Absolutely, we can't judge him on a game in which, from what I heard on the radio and have read from reports, he had little to do in. I think he deserves a run in the side, this may well be the kick up the arse Simmo has needed for too long now in all truth, if Long excels in this run then Simonsen will have to keep the bench warm.

I ultimately think that a loan keeper is what we will see in the next few weeks though, quite who that may be remains to be seen, but I would hope that if Long does prove himself, then we will not deem such an act necessary and instead put money towards replacing Phillips and/or Clarke once they go back to Blackpool.

I wasn't at the match last night but reports say that Long did not have a great deal to do.

Maybe, with such a young keeper in goal, the defence and midfield worked hard to protect him - which is really what they should be doing week in and week out.
That is exactly how I saw it and did think to myself, if Simmo had been protected like that, we possibly wouldn't have seen Long last night!

lets face it though he wasnt really tested at all last night. Cant remember him having one cross to save

Realistically who would we like to see loaned in. Looking at premier teams I wonder if Sir Neil would lend us Cerny as I think that Murphy is current second choice

Protected??? load of carp mate. He could have worn a Jonny but would still spill shots, do limp wristed punches & flap at crosses!

He had very little to do they played all their fancy football way out of the danger area. George had no chance with goal.

But history also suggest that in previous games where teams like MK Dons have had a late flurry of throw-ins and corners, Simmo has a panic attack and the oppostion end up scoring.

We were once again guilty of sitting far too deeply in the last 5 mins or so.
